F.G/Gombe Government to train 2000 youths on vocational skills.

The office of the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Education Intervention has concluded plans to begin the training of 2000 young men and women in the State in vocational skills under its programme code named Teen Maximization T-Max.

T-Max is an offshoot of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya persistent lobbying strategies aimed at attracting policies programmes and projects to Gombe State for the benefit of the people.

In a parley with the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Education Intervention Governor Inuwa Yahaya told his guest that his administration remains committed to building the intellectual capacity of the younger generation for optimal productivity and self sufficiency.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi the Governor disclosed that prior to the Teen Maximization Programme his administration has developed a collaborative structure with the Industrial Training Fund ITF for the training of youths in different vocational training programme in the State.

“Our major issue is the number of the youths we have, we call them untrainable because probably they lack the basic Education for training but if things like this are coming along the line it will click; the most important thing is to most of them has GSM and if they can operate GSM at least learning certain skills will not be as difficult particularly the ICT component so i must tell you His Excellency is so passionate about this and we look forward to working with you”.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya observed that the coming of the Teen Maximization programme to the State is an addendum to the series of youth development programmes already put in place by his administration.

Earlier speaking the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Education Intervention Fela Bank Olemoh disclosed that Gombe is one out of the 7 states selected for the pilot phase of the Teen Maximization T-Max.

He said the programme intend to train 2000 individuals within the next 3 months and will utilize available Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the State for the economic benefit of the people of the State.

The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Education Intervention said the programme is part of the Federal Government’s Poverty Reduction programme.
