The Secretary to the Gombe State Government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi has allay fears by the Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria Gombe State Chapter that the Gombe State Government may ban their operations in the State.
Professor Njodi stated this when he granted audience to Executives of the Association led by its State chairman Manu Ibrahim at the Gombe House.

He said the letter suggesting the ban on commercial motorcyclists in the State was written by the then Commissioner of Police during the tail end of the immediate past administration and therefore has no binding effect on the present administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
Professor Njodi says in as much as some Okada Riders are use as bait to commit crime, banning their operations in the State will amount to rendering many jobless and the resultant effect can better seen than imagine.

The SSG praised the Association’s readiness to partner with the present administration in the State towards addressing recklessness associated with its members, expunge bad eggs among them and to assist the Inuwa Yahaya’s led administration’s drive to boost Internally Generated Revenue IGR in the State.
Professor Njodi use to occasion to explain to his guests that it was the intention of the present administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya to transform the State by making it an economic power house of the north east sub-region.

To this end the Secretary to the Gombe State Government says the Infrastructural development currently been undertaken by the present administration in the State was to make the State a safe destination for business activities to thrive.
“You all are witnesse to the fact that the State is now ranked first in the ease of doing business in the country, and the impact is gradually coming into the State with the steady influx of companies such as the Madugu cement Factory and host of other agro allied companies”.
Earlier speaking the chairman of Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria Gombe State Chapter Malam Manu Ibrahim said they were at the Government House to intimate the present administration in the State of its readiness to partner with it towards achieving a crime free society.
They appeal to the Gombe State Government not to contemplate banning activities of the Association in the State because of the pool of people making a living out of it.
“In Gombe metropolis alone we have over twenty thousand members while in the entire State we have over one hundred and twenty thousand members so you see the Association is huge and banning will be tantamount to increasing crime rate in the State”.
He said the Association has put in place adequate measures to ensure displine among its members while ensuring that motorcycles operators in the State pays taxes to the Government as at when due pledeging their unalloyed Support to the Inuwa Yahaya led administration.
