The United Nations Development UNDP Chief Economist Dr. Amarakoon Bandara says Gombe State will soon become a Sustanable Development Goals (SDGs) Innovation Hub of the North East Sub-Region.
The UNDP Chief Economists disclosed this during a courtesy visit on the Secretary to the Gombe State Government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi who stood in for the State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
Dr. Bandara said the commitment displayed by the Gombe State Government in entrenching socio economic and human capital development as well as the maintenance of security in State are some key parameters use to arrive at the decision to make Gombe the SDG’s Innovation hub.
The UNDP Chief Economist commended the State Government efforts in coming up with the 10 year development plan which he described as essentially expedient to developing economies.
The Secretary to the Gombe State Government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi said the present administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya is laying the foundation for the ease of social and administrative implementation of any policies or programme.
Professor Njodi thanked the United Nations Development Programme UNDP for contributing to the formulation of the 10 year development plan which has set the tune for social economic and infrastructural development of the State.
The SSG equally remarked that the Gombe industrial park is another milestone of the present administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya aimed at turning the Gombe State into an economic and commercial powerhouse of the North East.
Earlier speaking the Special Adviser on Budget planning and development partners Coordination Dr. Mohammed Ishaku said the tripartite arrangement to make Gombe an innovation hub of the SDG is consequent upon the State meeting up with all threshold set up UNDP.
