The Secretary to the Gombe State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, has described the role of Faith-based organisations in the entrenchment of good governance and Public Security as a currency that cannot be overlooked, especially in the wake of socioeconomic and political uncertainties facing contemporary societies.

Professor Njodi stated this as a Guest Speaker at the Annual National Seminar of the Jama’atis Izalatil Bid’ah Wa’ikamatis Sunnah (IZALA) in Jos the Plateau State Capital Thursday.

Represented by the Director-General Research and Documentation Government House Gombe, Dr. Muazu Shehu, the SSG noted in the background of his presentation that in the past ideas about development in Nigeria and Africa often ignores religion as matter of private belief.

He maintained that the crisis of the contemporary world can be solved through good governance and that religion in general and Islam in particular can help the world address some of the crisis associated with lack of good governance and insecurity.

Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi says the Islamic notion of good governance is based on the concept of ihsan which means doing good things.
He added that in the Quran Allah invites Muslims to do good.
Speaking further, the SSG remarked that good governance in Islam is quantitative and not mechanical and is embedded in seven fundamental principles which include; Rule of law, Khilafa (Leadership) Accountability, Transparency, Justice, Equity as well as Enjoying good and preventing evil.
He said achieving good governance in Islam brings about protection of life, prosperity, Justice, fairness and Equity while the reverse bring the direct opposite and much more calamity.
