Gombe SSG says Government, committed to economic diversification.

The secretary to the Gombe state government Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi says the present administration of Governor Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya is committed to economic diversification.

Prof. Ibrahim Njodi who stated this while playing host to a delegation from the Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission says Gombe State will continue to work in partnership with the Commission to explore areas of mutual benefit.

He said the economic growth plan of Governor Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya is premise on opening up the state for potential investment, encourage local manufacturers and boost the agricultural sector through the enhancement of its value chain.

The Gombe State SSG thanked the Commission for coming to partner the state in her drive to diversify the economy for the overall benefit of the people of the state.

Speaking earlier, the Director Mobilization and Diversification Ahmed Maikano said Gombe state has all it takes to be self reliance.

Maikano said after visiting some places of economic interest to the state, he has no doubt that the state is well on course to be one of the economically viable state in the country.

Gombe Governor Inaugurates Taskforce on Immunization, Steering Committee on Basic Health Care Provision Fund

Governor Muhammdu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has inaugurated a Taskforce on Immunization and a Steering Committee on Basic Health Care Provision Fund, BHCPF.

Performing the ceremony at the council chamber of the Government House, Governor Inuwa Yahaya said the inauguration further demonstrates his administration’s commitment to improving the well-being of the state through the provision of better healthcare services.

He said the Taskforce on Immunization was constituted in order to ensure that children are immunized against preventable diseases associated with infant mortality.

The terms of reference for the Taskforce include: To ensure effective leadership and coordination of all immunization activities in the state and to monitor the effectiveness of the Immunization Plus Days in the state.

The Taskforce is also to prepare and review state plan for the intensification of polio eradication and routine immunization activities required to sustain interruption of wild polio virus transmission.

On the Steering Committee on Basic Health Care Provision Fund, Governor Yahaya said the setting up of the committee is aimed at ensuring adequate and sustainable funding that will be efficiently used to provide quality health service, particularly to the most vulnerable members of the society.

The terms of reference for the committee on Basic Health Care Provision Fund include: To liase with Federal Agencies such as the Federal Ministry of Health and National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to facilitate the enrollment of Gombe State among the beneficiaries of the BHCPF.

The committee is also expected to provide cross functional leadership and to ensure program visibility as well as to review and approve annual work plan and budget of the state implementation agencies.

While the taskforce on immunization is chaired by the state Deputy Governor, Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau, the committee on Basic Health Care Provision Fund is to be headed by the Hon. Commissioner of Health, Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Gana.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya approves over 30 million for Gombe Special Education Centre.

Says education top on his administration’s agenda.

Governor Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has approved the sum of thirty million four hundred thousand, Six hundred and fifty Kobo for the construction of two blocks of six classrooms as well the overhaul of a burnt girls hostel at Special Education Centre Gombe.

Presenting the project design to the contractors at the school premises, the Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board Hon. Babaji Babadidi said the contractors has up until three months to deliver the project.

He said the swift approval of the contract by Governor Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya was in line with his administration’s determination to make the educational sector in the state the citadel of academic excellence.

Hon. Babaji Babadidi commended the Governor’s passion on education saying the project will decongest classrooms in the school and provide befitting hostel accommodation for the girls.

He said the Special Education Centre will remain in the state capital putting to rest the rumours making the rounds that school will be relocated to Kwami Local Government Area of the state.

On the gullies ravaging the school premises, the SUBEB chairman said plans are under way to landscape the school to make it easier for students to move around.

Permanent members two and three of the Gombe State Universal Basic Education Board task the students to justify government investment by taking their studies seriously.

One of student who spoke at the event thanked Governor Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya for the intervention. He said project will spur the students for the summit.

RMFC….. Gombe government partners commission to improve IGR….

Says economic diversification the sure and sustainable way to go.

Gombe State government has indicated it’s desire to partners with the Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission RMFC to improve Internally Generated Revenue in the state.

Governor Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya who gave this indication while declaring open an interactive session with officials of the Commission on realizable ways to improve on the state’s internally generated revenue, says the state can no depend on statutory allocation from the Federal government.

The Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the state government, Prof Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi said Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s administration is passionate about revenue generation. He added “on assumption into office,the monthly IGR of the state stood at a little above 200 million but that through concerted effort by this administration, the state monthly IGR have been improved to 400 million”.

He assures of the state government rediness to key into the Federal Government policy on Diversification which places emphasis on the non oil sector.

The head of the Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission in Gombe Ahmed Maikano said the commission is delighted with the Gombe state government ingenuity towards improving revenue generation in the state.

Gombe Governor pardons 31 prisoners, commutes death penalty of one other.

Gombe state Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has pardoned 31 prisoners and commuted the death penalty passed on one other convict to 21 years’ imprisonment.

The convicts got clemency from the governor’s power on prerogative of mercy under Section 212(1) of the 1999 Constitution, sequel to recommendation by the Gombe State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy, headed by the state Commissioner of Justice and Attorney-General, Zubair Muhammad Umar.

The Council had earlier received 71 applications by convicts serving sentences in Gombe Medium Security and other Custodial Centres at Bajoga, Billiri, Cham and Tula.

The Council took into consideration the old age of applicants ( 50 years and above), young persons ( 16 years and below) and persons serving 3 years and above with less than 6 months to serve and record of good behaviour.

Others are persons suffering from terminal illness and those serving long term sentences and have served more than 10 years and have record of good behaviour.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya visit Hassan Central Primary school Gombe, frowns at over crowded classrooms.

Says government to decongest all public schools in the state

Governor Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has frown at the inability of the immediate past administration in the state to put into maximum use the Hassan Central Primary School Gombe.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya who stated this while on an inspection visit to the school said since the remodeling of the school by the immediate past administration in the state, the classrooms have been under lock and keys.

The Governor therefore directed the state Commissioner of Education and the Chairman of the state Universal Basic Education Board SUBEB to commence the furnishing of the 38 class rooms under lock and keys.

The Governor, in company of his Deputy, Dr. Manasseh Daniel Jatau and members of the State Executive Council, question the justification for locking up 38 classrooms while over one hundred students are left share a classroom.

He describe as mere political gimmick the commissioning of the school by the previous administration saying even the contractor has not been fully paid

He said his administration will continue to work with stakeholders in the educational sector to ensure that classrooms in schools across the state are decongested for effective teaching and learning.

The State commissioner of Education Dr. Habu Dahiru had intimated the Governor that the school was constructed by the immediate past administration but was not put into maximum use.

To this end he said pupils gets over crowded in the few classes available describing the visit by the Governor as good news to not only the pupils but teachers as well.

Gombe Industrial Park to serve as trade and investment hub

As Governor Inuwa Yahaya approves 1000 hectares for commencement

As Dadinkowa hydropower plant awaits commissioning by president Muhammadu Bihari, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe state has paid an inspection visit to the proposed site of industrial park, located within the vicinity of the plant.

The state Governor has already approved one thousand hectares of land for the establishment of the industrial park with a view to providing an enabling environment for investors to set up businesses.

The Governor had at different fora, hinted on the economic gains of the industrial park to the state when it finally takes off, saying that it would tap into the soon-to-be inaugurated Hydro Electric power plant.

In a remark during the inspection visit, Governor Yahaya said by the time Dadinkowa hydro power plant is put to use, the industrial park will be a hub for trade and investment.

He said, his administration has mapped out plans and other economic strategies that will enhance economic growth in the immediate host community, Gombe state and the nation at large.

This economic development initiative, he said, will pave the way for both local and large scale farmers to sell their farm produce to interested investors in their farmlands without having to transport them elsewhere.

The Governor added that, job creation for the state teeming youths is another beneficial aspects of the initiative as well as revenue generation.

He called on the traditional leaders and other members of the host community to support the initiative, guaranteeing compensation for all the affected persons whose farmlands and other property might be tempered with in the cause of developing the proposed site.

In his remark, the Managing Director, Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority, Engineer Abubakar Muazu assured the Governor of his agency’s committment in providing desired suppport to the state for the mutual benefit of the two bodies.

He said Upper Benue is readily available to provide technical support in the areas of irrigation farming and other farming techniques.

The State Commissioner of Commerce and Industry, Alhaji Nasiru Aliyu who conducted the Governor round the site along side his Lands counterpart, Alhaji Danladi Adamu, disclosed that investors have already started indicating interest and reaching out to the state Government with a view to investing when the park comes on stream.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has again reiterated his commitment to continue to lead the state with fear of God and ensure equity, justice and fairness to all, regardless of ethno-religious differences.

The Governor restated this, when he played host to the Christian Community in Gombe state, led by the Chairman of the state branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Reverend Ibrahim Joda, who paid him traditional Christmas and New Year homage at the Government House.

Governor Yahaya, who appreciated the Christian Community in Gombe for the visit and their continued support to his government, assured them of his administration’s readiness to work with all and sundry in the overall good of the state.

He said as a Muslim, he has sworn to lead the state with the fear of God and to be just to all manner of people regardless of differences, and therefore solicited the support, cooperation and prayers from the clergy and the entire people of the state to enable his administration deliver the goods.

The Governor lamented over the recent spade of insecurity in the country, saying the ugly trend presupposes that all men and women of good will must come together to defeat the common enemy which seeks to destroy the unity of the country.

He encouraged the Christian community not to relent in their prayers for Gombe State’s unity and its continued peaceful coexistence.

On the Christian pilgrimage to Jerusalem, Alhaji Yahaya said his administration will ensure that Christians from Gombe continue to perform their spiritual journey, attributing last year’s delay to indebtedness of the Gombe state Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board to the tune of about 300 million Naira which he said constituted some procedural bottlenecks that must be addressed.

He however assured Christians in the state, and in particular the intending Pilgrims that adequate arrangements will be made for their participation in this year’s pilgrimage exercise during the Easter period and on wards.

Earlier, the chairman of the Gombe Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Reverend Ibrahim Joda said the thrust of the traditional Christmas and New Year homage was to felicitate with the Governor and to pray for the success of his administration.

He applauded the Governor’s style of leadership, which among other things bothered on equity and fairness which he noted, are the hallmarks of peaceful co-existence.

The CAN Chairman used the occasion to remind Governor Yahaya to hold firm unto his campaign slogan;’NASARA DAGA ALLAH’ which he said had contributed to his popularity and acceptance among the Christian community in the buildup to the 2019 general elections.

While assuring the Governor of the loyalty and support of Christians in the state, the clergy enjoined him to maintain his usual fair disposition and continue to carry all the two major religious groups in the scheme of things as he pilots the affairs of the state.

The CAN leader appreciated the governor for considering and approving the Christian pilgrimage for the Easter season, describing the period as one of the best times to visit the holy land considering its significance.

Reverend Joda presented a copy of the Holy Bible and a manuscript of daily devotional spiritual food to the Governor on behalf of the Christian community.

Special prayers were offered for the peace, unity and development of Gombe state and Nigeria as a whole, while congregational songs were also rendered during the visit.
