…Restates Commitment to Providing Conducive Atmosphere for Businesses to Thrive

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has hosted the business community leaders in Gombe State to a special Ramadan Iftar today at the New Banquet Hall of the Government House, Gombe.

Speaking during the symbiotic breaking of fast, the Governor commended the understanding existing between his government and the business community in the state, appreciating the role the traders play in economic growth and development of the state, especially in the area of employment generation.

“No country or state can develop economically without giving due recognition and support to the business sector”, he noted.

He assured the business community leaders of his government’s continued commitment towards promoting their activities.

” As you are aware, Gombe is currently the number one State in the ease of doing business in the country, this is a testimony of our deliberate effort and intervention in creating good atmosphere for businesses to thrive and we shall not relent in that direction”, he said.

The governor also explained that “the 1000 hectre Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park we are building in Dadin Kowa is an opportunity for our businessmen and entrepreneurs to expand their horizon and benefit more from the rich investment potentials of the state.

Governor Inuwa said his government is ever ready to help businesses to develop, adding that,” I will never hesitate to move from one business place to another to listen to your complaints with the aim of solving them as much as possible”.

The Governor thanked the businessmen for honoring his invitation, describing it as a get together between intimate friends.

“I am so happy that today we are meeting with friends and associates in business, because I am also one of you; therefore, I am in a better position to know how to develop this important sector of the economy”, the governor remarked.

He used the occasion to solicit for prayers for Gombe State and the country, especially during this sacred month of Ramadan considering the enormous challenges the country is facing.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman Gombe Main Market Traders Association, Alh. Sunusi Abdullahi Mai Radio thanked the governor for the special Iftar, noting that it was a great honour accorded them.

“Your Excellency, we are with you 100% and we will continue to support you and your vision for our dear state. We acknowledge your good policies and programmes. We sincerely appreciate your commitment at providing enabling business environment”, he stated.

In their separate goodwill messages, Chairman Grains Market ( Tudun Hatsi), Alhaji Sani Babayye, Chairman Property Developers and Sellers Association, Alhaji Jalo Sale Maina as well as elder statemen; Alh. Gambo Isari and Alh. Samaila Abuya thanked Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for giving the business sector the priority it deserves. They praised the governor’s human capital and transformational projects like the distribution of tricycles to the youths, roads construction, solar installation among others which have direct impact on our businesses.

The session also had in attendance, the Deputy Governor, Dr Mannasah Daniel Jatau, Chief of Staff Government House, Alh. Abubakar Inuwa Kari, among other Government functionaries and business moguls.

Gombe Governor commend Cham community for upholding, preserving culture.

Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has commended Cham community for inspiring peaceful coexistence amongst all it’s diverse people through cultural celebration Chugoteh.

The Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi at this year’s Chugoteh celebration in Cham said Culture as an identity of a people should be promoted especially those positive values that harnesses the dignity and uniqueness of the people for overall good of the society.

He also noted that the annual celebration of the Cultural festival will not only showcase the the rich traditions of the people but also help in preserving and transfer of same to the younger generation.

The Governor especially praise the paramount ruler of the Cham nation the Nidugurah Cham James Chachi for his role in the mediation of peace between the Waja and Lunguda communities.

Commenting on his campaign promises to the people of the the area, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya said as obtained in all parts of the state projects are ongoing while some have been completed with others in the pipeline assured his administration’s commitment to delivering on it’s mandate of providing critical infrastructure across board.

He also reiterated his resolve to create the enabling environment for the people to pursue their legitimate livelihood in peace.

The chairman of the occasion who is e Provost college of Education Billiri,Dr Hassan Langa said he has been attending the Chugoteh cultural celebration of the Cham people since 1992 and has accorded him to understand the people as hospitable, honest, responsive, hardworking and peace lovers and commended the organisers for a good job.

Dr Hassan Langa also noted that though the annual celebration didn’t hold in the last two years due to the Coronavirus Pandemic the people were not dettered from stagging a befitting one this year which he said was a demonstration of the resilience of the Cham nation.

In his remark, the National Chairman Cham Progressive Association,Mr Ayuba Nibori appreciated the state government, Nidugurah Cham and members for their support which made the the occasion a huge success despite the fact that they missed the last two editions to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Nidugurah Cham James Chachis in his remark explained that the the festival is a celebration of friendship which characterises the nature of Cham people.

He therefore use the occasion to appealed to the state government and well-wishers to contribute to the ongoing construction of a modern town hall in Cham.

The former member representing Billiri/ Balanga federal constituency Ali Isah Jessy donated the sum of One million naira as donation toward the ongoing building project of the Cham town hall.

In their good will messages,the Balanga local government council chairman, Garba Umaru, Special Adviser to the Governor on Legal matters Barrister Caleb Ubale and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees Cham Progressive Association Mr. Micah Sunday appreciated all those who contributed to the success of the event and Commended the State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for the construction of Mona road among others projects in the Chiefdom.

The occasion featured cultural displays and inspection of artefacts by the dignetories.

Gombe SSG losses younger Sister, Maryam.

The Secretary to the Gombe State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi today Sunday lost his Younger sister Maryam Abubakar Njodi after a brief illness.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya along with the Deputy Governor Manassah Daniel Jatau, Emirs of Deba, Nafada and representatives of Mai Kaltungo were at the funeral prayers among hundreds of sympathisers.

Governor Yahaya who expressed grief over the sudden death of Maryam urged the SSG and other family members to bear the painful loss knowing that only Allah gives and takes life.

Fifty five (55) years old Maryam who died in the early hours of today left behind her husband,aged mother, children and many relatives among whom is Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi SSG Gombe State.

Easter: Governor Inuwa Felicitates With Christians, Preaches Love, Sacrifice.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has felicitated with Christians in Gombe State and the world over on the occasion of this year’s Easter celebration, urging them to pray for continued peace and stability of the state as well as Nigeria in general.

In a goodwill message, Governor Inuwa. said the Easter period provided an opportunity for strengthening of unity of purpose, reinforcement of bond of brotherhood and dedication in service to God and humanity as exemplified by Jesus Christ.

He said: “Easter symbolises love, sacrifice, service to God and country as well as triumph of good over evil. We should always reflect on the lessons and significance of the season and demonstrate the same in our lives.

“On this occasion of Easter feast, I want to enjoin our Christian brothers and sisters in Gombe State and the world over to continue to demostrate love, promote peace and show good neighbourliness.

“I also want to urge you to remain steadfast in prayers and continue to sacrifice for the good and advancement of our dear State.

He, equally, urged all Christians “to continue to pray fervently against the socio-economic and security challenges in the country.

“We are indeed in a trying moment but I am optimistic that with collective commitment, sacrifice and by turning to God through prayers we shall overcome all the trials and emerge stronger,” Governor Inuwa said.

While wishing the Christian faithful a peaceful and joyous Easter celebrations, the Governor urged Christian leaders “to use the occasion to preach peace, tolerance and good neighbourliness amongst the diverse people.”

NGF Chairman Extols Governor Inuwa’s Sterling Leadership Qualities, Superlative Performance.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Governor of Ekiti State Dr. John Kayode Feyemi has paid glowing tribute to his Gombe State counterpart, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, describing his performance as incredible and superlative.

The NGF Chairman made the observation when he paid a courtesy call on Governor Inuwa at the Government House, Gombe.

Dr. Fayemi also described Governor Inuwa as a silent achiever and good manager of resources with sterling leadership qualities who has done so much for his people within short period of his stewardship.

He also commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s administration for playing a comforting role by accommodating thousands of Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs from contiguous crisis stricken states of the North East.

“You are indeed doing extremely well, despite the challenges, especially in this geographical zone with attendant burden of IDPs from the neighbouring states. In fact you are one Governor we refer to as a silent storm, doing incredible things with little or no media frenzy “.

Speaking on national issues, the Ekiti State Governor noted that Nigeria is passing through a critical moment which presupposes that all citizens must join hands with Government at all levels to confront the social and economic challenges facing the nation.

He said President Muhammadu Buhari is doing everything necessary to calm the murky waters of insecurity and economic depreciation, noting that “it behoves on Nigerians to, irrespective of their political affiliations, maintain a frantic support to the present administration in the country so that these challenges can be addressed.

“The President is trying his best to calm things down, the economy is not experiencing the best of times; our security situation continues to be challenging and we are in a period of transition so we definitely need to find a way not only to continue to do what Mr. President is doing but to also look for the best way to build on the gains and the gaps of this administration over the last 8 years now”.

He observed that Nigeria’s developmental trajectory cannot be limited to the last 8 years but that it can be better appreciated when Nigerians take a trip down memory lane to the year 1999 where the fourth Republic all began.

Governor Kayode Fayemi said the Nigerian Governors Forum cannot to aloof to building on meaningful existing legacies and improving on governance structures to meet the challenges of the 21st century through the maximization of revenue generation, peace and security as well as the economic development frontier in the country as a whole.

“For us as Governors we must find a basis to come together to work with the President of the country in order to strengthen the Federation and build a better country that will serve the interest of our people and that is what we always do at the Governors Forum”.

Governor Kayode Fayemi describe governance particularly at the Federating as an onerous task which demands a high season administrative ingenuity to bring about a better, stronger and a more people oriented Nigeria.

“Frankly Nigeria is worth fighting for this is one country that has given many of us opportunities and we have a duty to fight for Nigeria and build a better country”.

Responding Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya thanked his Ekiti State counterpart for the visit, describing the contribution of Dr. Kayode Fayemi to national discourse and development as one that must and should be emulated by all men and women of goodwill.

He said the essence of having the Nigerian Governors Forum was to prop up a peer review mechanism that can serve as learning ground for individual State Governors to learn and eventually adopt areas of interest in their respective states .

“For us here in Gombe I think that guidance we got from you have helped us alot and that is why whatever we achieve and whatever you saw is really as a result of the effort that you are making right from your days at NADECO to Governor, Minister and Governor again”

He said in as much as Gombe is relatively peaceful in the midst of crisis stricken states of the North East, the State has become home to about seventy five thousand families who flee from the ongoing insurgency saying the Gombe State Government is happy hosting them in the spirit of brotherliness.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya who share the same sentiment with his Ekiti state counterpart remark that the country is going through a tumultuous times which demands that all hands must be on deck to tackle the problem head on.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya used the visit to assure the chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum that the APC in Gombe remains rock solid both in terms of numerical strength, structure and infrastructural development to its credit.

Ramadan Iftar: Governor Inuwa Hosts APC Elders, Seeks Prayers For Nation, Gombe State.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya says Nigeria can overcome the myriad of its socio-economic and security challenges if the citizens cultivate the solemn habit of seeking the intervention of Almighty Allah in the affairs of the country through prayers.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya gave this admonition when he hosted members of All Progressives Congress, APC Elders’ Forum to a breaking of Ramadan fast at the Government House.

The Governor remarked that Nigeria, like Gombe State, needs the fervant prayers of all well-meaning citizens to overcome the current security and other related challenges confronting the nation and its federating units.

“We all are aware that Nigeria and indeed the world is in a precarious situation but we are hopeful that God has a way of bringing this temptation being faced by the country to a happy ending; but the responsibility lies on us to open our eyes and consistently seek the help and intervention of Almighty Allah”.

” So I urge us all to use the Ramadan period to pray fervently for our dear state, nation and leaders at all levels for Allah’s guidance and protection against enemies of the county and humanity “.

Governor Inuwa wondered why some individuals derive pleasure in taking up arms and kidnapping their fellow human beings for ransom, saying such practice is repugnant and alien to modern civilisation.

He said the holy month of Ramadan presents a unique opportunity to all Muslims to devote and seek the face of the Almighty Allah for the remission of sins repentance as well as granting of supplications no matter how impossible human may view it to be.

While thanking the APC Elders’ Forum for honouring his invitation for the Iftar, Governor Inuwa Yahaya said his administration will continue to run an open door policy with a view to harvesting constructive ideas for the benefit of the people of the state. He solicited for continued support and advice from the elders as he pilots the affairs of the state.

Earlier speaking, the Chairman of APC Elders Forum in Gombe State Baba, Alhaji Jauro Tela Abubakar thanked Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for honouring them with a feast in the holy month of Ramadan.

He said their forum is very much aware of the antics of some self centred politicians who are bent on causing unnecessary confusion and ill-feelings among the citizens of the State.

He however assured Governor Inuwa Yahaya that they are prepared to counter any movement that seeks to undermine the excellent and people-oriented projects the present administration in the State is undertaking as well as the examplary leadership he is providing.

During the session, special prayers were offered for the peace, security and prosperity of Gombe State and Nigeria.

Deputy Governor, Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Luggerewo, State Chairman of APC, Mr. Nitte Amangal, Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi and Chief of Staff, Abubakar Inuwa Kari were in attendance during the Iftar dinner.

Gombe SSG,Prof Njodi now “Shetiman Jessu”

In what appears to be a harvest of traditional titles, the Secretary to the Gombe State Government (SSG) Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi has yet again been awarded with the traditional title of ” SHETIMA Of JESSU”

In a letter address to the SSG and personally signed by the District Head of Jessu HH Maina Laban Binus (Yalayaka IV) says the Jessu Traditional Council deemed it necessary to honour the foremost educationist base his enviable reputation and track record as bridge builder and a quintessential administrator.

The letter further express gratitude to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his wisdom in not only identifying the erudite scholar and strategic thinker but also appointing him to serve in his cabinet which has so far the witness a social economic infrastructural and political repositioning of the State in line with global best practices.

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has again restated his administration commitment to the welbeing of persons living with disability in the state.

The Governor stated this through the Secretary to the state government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi when he played host to Maryam Umar an SS 3 student of Jewel Academy Gombe who is without both arms but does virtually every human activity using her feet.

Professor Njodi reveals that his interaction with Maryam followed a correspondence with Governor Inuwa Yahaya who immediately directed that Maryam Umar and her family be invited so that challenges affecting her educational pursuit can determine address.

He commended the family of Maryam for supporting her determination to acquire knowledge despite her condition assuring them that the government will do everything possible to support her education through a comprehensive scholarship program that will see her through tertiary institution.

The SSG commended Mr Abdon Ali Balanga a retired Information officer who took it upon himself to seek support for Maryam in the last seven years to ensure that she remains in school.

The Commissioners of Science, Technology and Innovation,Youth and Sports Development and that of Women Affairs offered to pay for Maryam’s examination fees and encouraged her to remain resolute in her educational pursuit.

They lauded her doggedness and humility to set goals for herself and not allowing her deformity to discourage her in any way.

In remark Mr Abdon Ali Balanga who led Maryam and her family to the government house appreciated Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and his administration for giving attention to Maryam’s case which he said was denied by the previous administration.

Mr Abdon Balanga explains that he has been working tirelessly for the past seven years in support for Maryam.

He said the quest to assist Maryam has led him to several non governmental organizations, companies and relevant government agencies without success.

Mr Abdon appreciated the Governor for his show of empathy and support and appealed for employment, examination fees and scholarship to enable Maryam further her education after secondary school.

Governor Inuwa visits NALDA Office In Abuja, Assures of Sustained Partnership To Boost Wheat Production, Agric value Chain.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya says his administration remains committed towards strengthening the existing partnership between Gombe State and the National Agricultural Land Development Authority, NALDA in order to boost agricultural value chain in the State.

The Governor stated this while answering questions from journalists shortly after visiting the Director General of NALDA, Prince Paul Ikonne in his office in Abuja to discuss issues that are beneficial to Gombe State.

Governor Inuwa observed that the partnership between the Gombe State Government and NALDA in the area of wheat production will go a long way to encourage its cultivation in the State, especially now that the Russia-Ukraine war rages on.

“With what we did and with the raging war in Ukraine and Russia, where we import all our wheat and use in our daily lives; the efforts of NALDA towards making us sufficient in wheat production is very fundamental and the people of Gombe have already embraced and aligned. You saw the output, you saw that we cultivated 200 hectares this year and the result was so fabulous and we are going to continue with that and that is why I came to NALDA to see that we expand on that relationship for the betterment of our people and the country at large”.

On his administration’s ability to sustain the momentum of wheat production in the State, Governor Inuwa Yahaya said with the support of the ordinary people and the inherent economic benefits attached to wheat cultivation, the Gombe State Government under his leadership will continue to encourage its production through the provision of farm inputs and all necessary support.

The Governor maintained that his administration will equally enhance the agricultural value chain of wheat through its production, marketing and distribution.
