Ramadan: Gombe Begins Distribution Of Food Items To LGA’s, Groups, Others.

Gombe State Government has commenced the conveyance of food stuff to designated centres in the 11 Local Government Areas for onward distribution to individuals, groups and associations as directed by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

The committee saddled with the responsibility of distributing the Ramadan relief package to the 114 political wards across the State was earlier at the Gombe Central Store to supervise the dispatch exercise.

Speaking at the event, the Chief of Staff Government House, Abubakar Inuwa Kari said the directive by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for food items to be distributed was done in the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan.

“As you can see the vehicles are being loaded to the various Local Government Areas for onward distribution to the beneficiaries. Clubs and associations are equally here to pick their consignment; so I am here to ensure that the distribution goes as planned and those charged with the responsibility execute it to the later.

He said the gesture of distributing food items has been a trademark of the present administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya covering both faiths, especially during religious rites.

Recall that Governor Inuwa had earlier approved a template to be implemented by Local Government Councils’ Chairmen in their respective areas with Hon. Members of the State House of Assembly, Commissioners and Party Chairmen as members while SSA’s ( Community Relations) serve as Secretaries in order to ensure smooth distribution exercise.

Items being distributed include 25,000 bags of sugar, 15,000 bags of rice, 15,000 gallons of cooking oil as well as 15,0001 cartons each of Spaghetti pasta and Tomato paste respectively.

This humanitarian gesture by Governor Inuwa is aimed at providing succour, especially to the less privileged persons in the society in the holy month of Ramadan.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya Grants Approval For Recruitment of 1000 Fresh Teachers.

…Okays Transfer of 288 Teachers From SUBEB To Secondary Schools, Technical Colleges

Gombe state Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (Dan Majen Gombe), has granted approval for the recruitment of 1000 fresh teachers by Gombe State Teachers’ Service Commission, TSC as part of efforts towards consolidating on the objectives of his declaration of a ‘state of emergency’ on education.

This development was made known by the Chairman of the Teachers’ Service Commission, Mrs Na’omi Philip Maiguwa.

She said the Governor’s approval was as a result of his genuine concern over shortage of teachers in public secondary schools across the state.

“I’m very delighted to inform you that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (Dan Majen Gombe), moved by the huge shortage of teachers in government schools, has on Wednesday 6th April, 2022 graciously approved the recruitment of 1000 fresh teachers”, she said.

“His Excellency equally approved the transfer of 288 staff of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) who had applied for transfer of service from the board for placement into the State Ministry of Education’s secondary schools and technical colleges,” she added.

“This development is one of the steps the Governor has taken to turn around the fortunes of education in the state. He had earlier in January this year, consented to kick starting the teachers’ recruitment process at the TSC. This approval is a continuation of the process to place qualified teachers in the state’s post basic education schools”.

The TSC chairman noted, that this is the first time since the creation of Gombe state that government is recruiting and deploying as many as 1288 teachers, as the last exercise which was carried out in August 2018 involved only 700 teachers, less than 60 percent of the number involved in the current exercise.

Gombe State Inaugurate Council for the Ease of Doing Business.

Urges Council to regulate condusive environment for business operations, protection of property rights.

Determine to ensure that Gombe State retains its strategic position as the number one destination in the Ease of Doing Business in the Country the Inuwa Yahaya’s led administration has inaugurated a multi-sectoral Council to help maintain and drive the process.

Inaugurating the Ease of Doing Business Council at the Government House, the chairman of the Council and State Deputy Governor of Gombe State Dr. Manasseh Daniel Jatau stressed that the State Government deemed it necessary inaugurate the Council because of the dynamics inherent in Business world.

Represented by the Secretary to the Gombe State Government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, Dr. Manasseh Daniel Jatau observed that Ease of Doing Business is all about simplicity, Timeliness and a more friendly regulations for businesses to easily get a foothold and expand beyond limits.

Dr. Jatau observed that been an important and necessary concept among the parameters of measuring development of nations, Ease of Doing Business has continued to receive global attention and measurement as it is on record that Nigeria moved from being the number 145th in 2019 to 131 in 2020 in the world Ease of Doing Business.

“I am sure that you are aware, proud and happy that in the year 2020 our dear Gombe State was rated the best and first in the Ease of Doing Business in Nigeria”.

He express the hope that with calibre of individuals in the Gombe State Ease of Doing Business Council, the State will continue to maintain its number position in the country as the number one choice for business start ups.

The 25 member Gombe State Council for the Ease of Doing Business is chiefly charge with the responsibility of supporting the development of a robust data of existing and newly register company to support policy design for Ease of Doing Business.

The Kaltungo Township Stadium was fill to the brim when thousands of APC supporters and well wishers besieged the sporting facility to show solidarity to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his incredible and exceptional leadership qualities in piloting the affairs of the State in the last 3 years.

Tagged “Inuwa Alheri”, the solidarity rally is fashion towards showcasing the giant strides of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya in the area of health, education, Agriculture, human capital development and economic emancipation.

Convener of the rally and Secretary to the Gombe State Government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi explains that the political convergence becomes necessary not only to show solidarity to the Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s administrative acumen but to garner support and loyalty to his administration.

Governor Inuwa Appoints Rector, Other Principal Officers For Gombe State Polytechnic, Bajoga.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has approved the appointment of Dr Abbas Umar Farouk as Rector of the Gombe State Polytechnic, Bajoga.

The Commissioner, Ministry for Higher Education, Mr Meshack Audu Lauco, who conveyed the Governor’s approval, also announced Ahmed Abubakar Alkali as the Registrar and Hassan Salama Dala as Polytechnic Librarian.

The one term of five- years appointments of the three principal officers are with immediate effect.

Gombe On Course to Actualize Network 11-100 As Governor Inuwa Inspects Township Roads Network Project.

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has undertaken an inspection tour of the on-going township roads projects ( Phase 6).

He first inspected the 4.3KM Idi-Kagarawal- Unguwa Uku- Malam Inna road with laterite subbase and fill completed, several box culverts and outlet drains being constructed to ensure proper discharge of runoff and connect the densely populated communities that were hither-to inaccessible.

The Governor, who was conducted round by the Commissioner of Works and Transport, Engr. Abubakar Bappah and the Project Manager, Triacta Construction Company, Engr. Imran Amin, also inspected the 2.5KM Bolari- Miyetti- State Low Cost roads which is almost 95 percent completed.

The road construction in the area will improve on connectivity within Gombe metropolis, provide alternative routes to Gombe- Biu Road, Sabon Layi and State low cost which are main arteries of the city’s traffic.

It will further decongest the city and reduce traffic jams on the major routes, thereby improving the standard of living of the common man.

Both roads were awarded in November last year by the administration of Governor Inuwa Yahaya as part of its determination to actualize the ambitious Network Eleven-100 project which seeks to construct at least one hundred kilometres of roads in each of the eleven Local Government areas of the State.

In both sites visited, Governor Inuwa Yahaya was received by hundreds of jubilant crowd from the benefitting communities, who turned out en masse to thank him for the road projects and to express their solidarity and support to the APC-led administration.

Addressing the mammoth crowd during stop overs along the Idi- Unguwan- Uku-Kagarawal- Malam Inna road, Governor Inuwa Yahaya assured them that the project will be completed in record time to boost social and economic activities in the area.

He however appealed to the people not to encroach on leftover lands besides the road as government intends to use the space to plant trees, install solar streetlights and reticulate pipelines for adequate water supply among other services.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the inspection visit, Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed satisfaction with the level and quality of work being executed on both road projects.

The Governor expressed confidence that with the speed with which his administration is embarking on road construction, it is only a matter of time that the Network 11-100 project will be achieved in each of the eleven local government areas of the State.

He assured the people of the State that despite paucity of funds, his administration will continue to expand road networks and provide other social amenities across the State one step at a time.

“This one was awarded about 4 months ago and you can see for yourselves the level of accomplishment and the happiness in the faces of the people, which means the more you do for the people, the more they people and come to embrace the Government”. Our government is for the people and we shall continue to work for them to meet their yearnings and aspirations “.

Earlier, the Village Head of Kagarawal said his community will remain ever grateful to Governor Inuwa whose administration has made its impact felt, not only thriiugh the provision of this road, but other social amenities such as the 150 bed capacity hospital as well as the erosion control project among others.

The Governor was accompanied on the inspection visit by the Speaker of Gombe State House of Assembly, Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Luggerewo, member representing Gombe North, Hon. Ali Baba Manu, Secretary to the Gombe State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, Chief of Staff, Abubakar Inuwa Kari, Commissioners and other top Government functionaries.

NPFL Week 22: Gombe United defeats Kano Pillars by one goal to nil.

The State darling team Gombe United FC this evening at the Pantami township stadium defeated Kano Pillars by one goal to nothing at the ongoing Nigerian Professional Football League NPFL.

The first half of the encounter ended in a deadlock with both teams displaying footballing artistry to try and find the back of the net.

However, the goal drought of the match ended at the 65th minute when Barnabas Daniel scored from the spot after the centre referee awarded a penalty to the home side.

With this result Gombe United moves to the 9th position the Nigerian Professional Football League.

Gombe APC Remains Rock Solid In Strength With Superlative Performance To Show, Governor Inuwa Says.

…Inaugurates Empowerment Items Facilitated By State Lawmaker, Mustapha Hassan

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has vaunted that the All Progressives Congress, APC in Gombe State remains rock solid in terms of numerical strength and magnificent performance of its administration to show and therefore called on the party’s membership in the State to guard against political wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya stated this while speaking at the distribution of empowerment items facilited by the member representing Gombe South in State House of Assembly, Hon. Mustapha Usman Hassan at the APC square.

The Governor noted that citizens tend to appreciate the true essence of leadership when leaders cultivate the habit of doing those things that can improve their lives, saying “this is the main thrust of the APC administration”.

He said his administration will continue to accord priority to policies and programmes that have direct bearing on the life of the common man, urging elected officials and political appointees to also strive in impacting on the lives of the electorate in whatever way they can.

He charged beneficiaries of this and other empowerment programmes in the State to utilize the items given to them for their social and economic emancipation.

The Governor, noted that the empowerment programme initiated by Hon. Mustapha Hassan falls in line with the All Progressives Congress, APC manifesto of meeting the social and economic yearnings and aspirations of the people.

He said the time has come for the APC in the State to flaut its life changing interventions for every one to see and therefore called on the people of the State not to hesitate in returning the favour by staying true to the leadership qualities of Hon. Mustapha Hassan.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya used the occasion to call on citizens of the State who are yet to obtain the Permanent Voters Card, PVC to do so while the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration lasted.

“Even for those of you whose voters card are missing or wear beyond recognition, the continuous voter registration offers you the opportunity for renewal”.

The Speaker, Gombe State House of Assembly, Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Luggerewo, said the empowerment scheme could not have come at a better time when Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya is taking pragmatic steps towards putting the State on the pedestal of sustainable development.

Represented by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Siddi Buba, the Speaker observed that under the leadership of Governor Inuwa Yahaya, the State has witnessed social, economic and infrastructural development with direct links to the yearnings and aspirations of the common man.

He congratulated Hon. Mustapha Hassan for initiating the scheme which he said will go a long way to changing the social and economic status of the people.

Initiator of the empowerment programme, Hon. Mustapha Hassan thanked Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for showing leadership which is robbing off on politicians in the state to contribute their qouta to the growth and development of their various communities and humanity in general.

He explained that he initiated the programme with the aim of alleviating poverty and improving the well-being of his constituents in support of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s effort in that direction.

Speaking on behalf of the State Executive Council members, the Commissioner of Finance, Malm Muhammad Gambo Magaji said through the guidance of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, political office holders in the State have cultivated the habit of constantly empowering and changing the lots of the people they represent.

Representative of the Chairman of Gombe Local Government Council who is also the Deputy Chairman of APC, Sani Ya’u said the performance of Governor Inuwa Yahaya in all spheres of human endeavours is propping up the sleeping latent of politicians in the State to leave above board.

The District head of Doma, Alhaji Abdullahi Doma thanked Governor Inuwa Yahaya for executing projects that have direct bearing on the lives of the people of his domain as well as for his administration’s efforts towards maintaining the prevailing peace in the State.

He equally expressed gratitude to Hon. Mustapha Hassan for initiating the empowerment programme which he described as one of its kind.

Items distributed included 8 cars, 25 motorcycles, 45 sewing machines, cash among others.

Governor Inuwa Swears-In Justice Joseph Awak As Chief Judge Of Gombe State.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya says his administration will continue to support the Judiciary and Legislature in discharging their statutory responsibilities effectively for the overall benefit of the people of Gombe State.

The Governor stated this while performing the swearing-in of the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Joseph Ahmed Awak at the Government House.

He said since inception, the three arms of Government have been partnering in the development of Gombe State, stressing that the unity and harmony must be maintained going forward.

“To facilitate the proper functioning of the Judicial Arm of Government, our administration has placed emphasis on having a harmonious working relationship with the Judiciary”.
While restating his commitment to continue supporting the independence of the Judiciary in Gombe State for enhancement of service delivery and speedy administration of justice, Governor Inuwa assured the entire members of the Judiciary that he would continue to make available all necessary facilities and funding for the discharge of the statutory responsibilities of the Judicial Arm.

“The myriad of challenges facing our dear nation cannot be tamed without ensuring swift, sure, and fair administration of justice. It therefore goes without saying that we require an incorruptible judiciary where justice shall be dispensed to all manner of people in the State without discrimination, fear or favour”.

He congratulated the new judiciary helmsman for being found worthy to superintend over the important arm of Government.

“First and foremost, our gratitude goes to Allah (SWT) for giving us the opportunity to witness this important occasion for the swearing-in of the substantive Chief Judge of Gombe State. It is indeed a joyful and historic moment seeing you cheerfully taking the Oath of Office. Constitutionally, you are now head of the Judiciary arm of Government in the State”.

” Following the recommendation of the Judicial Service Commission on the 16th of March 2022, as required by the Constitution, I approved the appointment of Justice Joseph A. Awak as the substantive Head of the State High Court of Justice as ratified by the Honorable members of the Gombe State house of assembly”.

He described Justice Joseph Awak as a man well known for his sterling qualities befitting of a top-ranking judicial officer, whose appointment as the Chief Judge of the state is a culmination of many years of meritorious and selfless service to the Judicial Arm of Government not just in Gombe State but also the federation as a whole.

“I have no doubt in my mind that Justice Awak will discharge his duties in this new role with utmost commitment and integrity as he has always done for the benefit of our dear State.

“The importance of having judicial officers with high levels of experience and moral rectitude at this moment of our history cannot be over emphasised. It is undeniable that unbridled corruption, violent crimes and numerous other forms of criminal behaviours have bedevilled our nation, making it extremely difficult, if not completely impossible, to meet our developmental aspirations and consolidate our constitutional democracy”.

Speaking earlier, the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, described the occasion as unique in the history of the present administration with the third Chief Judge being sworn-in for the High Court of justice by Governor Inuwa Yahaya, two in acting capacity and today’s in substantive capacity.

He noted that the development will assist in the administration of justice in the State and therefore congratulated Justice Awak on his well – deserved appointment as the head of the Judiciary arm of Government in Gombe State.
