…Inspects Ongoing London Maidoruwa- Alkahira- Arawa Road Project
… Says His Administration Places Premium On Infrastructural Development, Social Engagement, Economic Transformation.
Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has flagged off the payment of compensation for 309 property affected by the recently awarded road construction projects in Malam Inna, Kagarawal, Unguwa Uku and Bolari communities in Gombe metropolis.
A sum total of three hundred and eighty one million naira( N381m) has been released for the compensation payment in all the quarters put together.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremonies, held separately at Kagarawal and Bolari respectively, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya said road construction forms part of his campaign promises to execute projects that have direct bearing on the lives of the people especially those at the rung of the ladder.
The Governor remarked that inspite of the global economic meltdown, occasioned by Covid-19 Pandemic, to which Gombe is not immuned, his administration has continued to place premium on the infrastructural development, social engagement and economic transformation.
“For this reason, my eyes and ears are wide open and my legs still standing firm and strong to go round the nooks and crannies of the State in order to evaluate and re-evaluate the pressing and immediate needs of the people”.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya explained that the rMalam Inna-kagarawal- Unguwa Uku Road project as well a that of Bolari quarters of the State capital is a replica of what was obtained in other parts of the State aimed at opening up the entire State for social and economic activities.
He described road network as an important artery for the ease of not only doing business but the movement of goods and accessing educational and health services within the State at the nick of time.
“We are going to complete the road in Malam Inna Kagarawal and Unguwa Uku with the compliment of solar powered streetlights. We have equally constructed a 120 bed capacity hospital in this area and we have completed the multi billion naira 7.5 kilometres erosion control project which has over the years been a thorn in the flesh of these communities”.
He said his administration will continue to provide dividends of democracy to the people of the State without recourse to dissenting voices whose stock in trade is to raise false, baseless and unfounded criticism.
The Governor frowned at the attitude of some individuals who had wanted to over heat the process for the payment of compensation, noting that the composition of the committee for the evaluation of individual property are individuals with proven integrity.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya called on the people to remain resolute and steadfast to his administration’s commitment to turn around the fortunes of the State while keeping an arms length to anyone who does not mean well for them.
“My administration is built on the trust you gave me and I shall continue to protect your interest and your human dignity at all times. The responsibility of building a virile State lies on our shoulders and we shall continue to do all that is necessary to fulfill our promises which is to place the State on the path of sustainable economic development”.
The Governor said the road construction will commence upon the completion of the payment of compensation to every individual whose property will be affected by the infrastructural development, adding that his administration will continue to focus attention on areas that are densely populated within the State capital and environs so as to open them up and give the people a sense of belonging.
Same scenario played out when the Governor proceeded to Bolari quarters to equally flag off the payment of compensation to individuals whose property will be affected by the road construction there.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya told the mammoth crowd that besieged his arrival that under no circumstances will he watch and allow the people of the State to be short changed.
The chairman of the compensation committee and Commissioner of Finance and Economic Development, Muhammad Gambo Magaji had earlier in his address of welcome told the gathering that the State government under the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya is committed towards paying those whose property will be affected by the roads construction.
Explaining the modalities for the payment of compensation, the Commissioner of works Engr. Abubakar Bappah said payment will be made in accordance with the guidelines based on the type and the overall finishing of each property.
He said the policy thrust of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of providing road infrastructure was predicated on the importance of road network to the social and economic development of the people.
He therefore announced a period of two weeks for individuals whose property will be affected to evacuate their valuables before the commencement of the road construction.
Representatives of the individuals, whose property will make way for the road construction, commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his natural attachment to the down- trodden and therefore pledged their support to the administration and the road project.
Impressed by the Governor’s political ingenuity in granting the road construction, the Village Head of Kagarawal, confered on the Governor the traditional title of “Sarkin Yakin Kagarawal ” while the District Head of Bolari honoured the Governor with the title of “Ma’Dawakin Bolari”.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya had earlier inspected the ongoing London Maidoruwa- Alkahira road project which has reached an advanced stage of completion.
