Governor Babagana Umara Zulum who is the Chairman of the Northeast Governors’ Forum, alongside Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, were in Sokoto earlier today for condolence and solidarity visit to Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal over the recent attack on Goronyo market by bandits, which left about 40 persons dead.
Zulum led the visit on behalf of the Northeast Governors Forum, and donated N20m as solidarity humanitarian support.
Speaking to Tambuwal during the visit, Zulum said the Northeast Governors share the grief of families affected by the attack hence the delegation, to register condolence and express solidarity.
He prayed for the return of peace in Sokoto and all parts of Nigeria, noting his doors are always open to exchange of experiences given from challenges faced by Borno State, and steps being adopted on the way forward.
In his response, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal expressed profound gratitude to the Northeast Governors Forum which was represented by Prof Zulum and Inuwa Yahaya.
He noted that the visit was a soothing balm to victims and affected families, and to the entire people of Sokoto State.
Tambuwal further described the coming of Governors Zulum and Inuwa Yahaya as a clear manifestation of love and brotherhood between the Northeast and the Northwest in general, and between Borno, Gombe and Sokoto States.
Governor Tambuwal acknowledged the many efforts of Zulum in Borno since becoming Governor two years ago.
The two Governors were accompanied to Sokoto by Borno’s Commissioners for Agriculture, Bukar Talba, Works, Architect Yerima Saleh, Adviser on Special Duties, Bakari Ali Kotoko, and Adviser on Local Government and Emirate Affairs, Abba Kawu Shehu Garbai.

He said the association has been following activities of the Gombe DG Press as they effect image making service delivery and is satisfied with the dynamism and dexterity employed by Mr. Misilli in promoting the activities of his principal and the State as a whole.

He said the honour was not done to him alone but to the government and entire people of Gombe State.

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has called on the proprietors of Tsangaya schools to embrace Government policies and programmes aimed at developing the skills and capacity of the Almajiris so that they can contribute meaningfully towards societal development.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya stated this at a stakeholders meeting convened by the Better Education Service Delivery For All (BESDA) for Islamic scholars and community leaders in the State.
The Governor said the objective of the meeting was to equip and improve the capacity of Islamic Teachers to meet the teaching needs of the 21st century.
“We are here today to discuss better ways of improving the Tsangaya education system in our dear state. Many Muslim countries like Morocco, Sudan, Indonesia have done very well in upgrading the Tsangaya system and making it fit into the requirements of our time”.
He equally noted that “Tsangaya Education programme is one of the initiatives of the Federal Government to address the problems of out-of-school children with the objectives of providing access and equity to basic education for all school age children”.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya explained that available data has revealed that the number of out of school children in Gombe State is alarming as well as the nature of the education system in the State.
He said that his administration upon assuming office in 2019 immediately declared a state of emergency in the education sector and keyed into the World Bank-supported BESDA programme in order to bridge the gap.
“BESDA has so far succeeded in mopping up over 150,000 almajiris in Gombe State through the establishment of about 676 non-formal learning centres across the State over the last two years. Similarly, we have so far constructed over 200 new classrooms and renovated over 400 others across several basic and post-basic schools.
“We have also just witnessed the laying foundation ceremony for a mega Tsangaya school at Goni Sani Tsangaya. Insha’Allah we shall construct additional of such mega schools in each of our local government areas over the next two years”.
He said the establishment of non-formal learning centres through BESDA in Tsangaya schools is aimed at introducing modern education into the Tsangaya curriculum so that children in such Schools can benefit from both educational systems.
“I therefore wish to call on the Tsangaya School proprietors to continue to embrace Government policies and programmes aimed at developing the skills and capacity of their Almajiris so that they can contribute meaningfully towards societal development”.
The Governor commended Islamic Teachers for their contributions toward the propagation of Islam by establishing educational Institutions and other outreach activities.
“This has helped humanity tremendously. I therefore urge all the various stakeholders, traditional rulers as well as other public-spirited individuals in our society to support them in this noble course”. Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed the hope that at the end of the meeting, participants will be more knowledgeable in advancing Tsangaya schools to greater heights.
The National Coordinator of the Better Education Service Delivery for All, BESDA Gidado Tahir represented by the State Base consultant Dr. Sani Abdullahi described Gombe State as a shining example in the implementation of BESDA programme in the country.
“Since this programme will not last for a life time, I think it behoves on states implementating same to emulate the ingenuity of Gombe State in the BESDA programme”.
The Director, Better Education Service Delivery for All BESDA in the Federal Ministry of Education, Amina Buba Haruna said the Ministry is enthused by near perfect implementation of the programme in Gombe State.
She therefore lauded Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for appointing men of goodwill and sound character to manage the affairs of the Service.
She noted that all hands must be on deck to integrate the Almajiri Education into the western system so that the children can holistically function well in a contemporary society.
Earlier, the Gombe State Coordinator of BESDA, Dr. Abdullahi Bappah Ahmed noted that the successes so far achieved by the sevice could not have been possible without the sound support of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
He described the stakeholders’ engagement meeting as necessary to consolidate on the gains so far recorded.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya was earlier at the Goni Sani Tsangaya in Bolari East where he laid the foundation stone for the construction of an ultra modern Almajiri integrated Quranic education centre.

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has participated in the affirmation of result of the All Progressives Congress, APC State Congress in Gombe State conducted through consensus method in line with the party’s guidelines, stakeholders’ resolution and democratic process.
Speaking shortly after the exercise, held at the Pantami township stadium, Governor Inuwa Yahaya applauded the smooth conduct of the exercise, singling out the committee sent from the National Headquarters of the APC for special commendation.
“I want to thank Almighty God for giving us the opportunity to elect new leadership of our party at the State level, following the smooth conduct of the ward and Local Government congresses in the State. Today’s State Congress which saw the election of 36 State Executives was conducted in accordance with the party guidelines and the expressed buy-in of stakeholders of the APC in the State”.
To this end, Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed gratitude to APC stakeholders and supporters alike for their continuous solidarity and cooperation before and after the formation of Government in the State.
The Governor remarked that the State congress witnessed some change of guard, especially in the vacuum created by the death of some executive members and the fragility of some others due to old age.
He maintained that these decisions were meticulously considered by the party in order to avoid the possibility of any rancor that may arise within the ranks of the APC in Gombe State.
“This is a thing of joy and pride for the APC in Gombe State to have unanimously arrived at a collective decision in the interest of all. In some states such inclusiveness was not obtainable but here in Gombe we tried to carry everyone along and I am happy with the support, cooperation so far received from the stakeholders and supporters of the party”.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya appealed to the newly elected Executives of the party at the State level to see their election as not only a trust but a call to service with commitment and dedication towards the growth and development of the APC in the State.
“And same applies to the wards and Local Government party Executives, we must work even more harder to strengthen the party because it is only with the presence of a strong party can we all be nominated to vie for any political position”.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya used the occasion to warn saboteurs whose stock in trade is to cause confusion and undermine the party, maintaining that APC will not condone any act that will bring the party to disrepute and will not hesitate to sanction such unscrupulous elements in line with rules and regulations guiding the party.
“To the best of my knowledge all the congresses conducted in the State have the buy-in of our party members; so it is only honourable for each and everyone of us to maintain our commitment in the interest of the unity, progress and development of our party “.
The Governor assured the people of Gombe State that with their continued support and solidarity, his administration will continue to deliver the dividends of democracy as encapsulated in his campaign manifesto.

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress National Election Committee for Gombe State, Dr. Danjuma Dabo, expressed gratitude for the support and cooperation accorded his team which ultimately led to a peaceful, free and fair congress.
He explained that of the 784 expected delegates for the APC Congress in the State, his committee was able to carry out accreditation for 712 for the exercise which was monitored by a team from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and observed by Civil Society Organisations and the media.

…Calls On Party Faithful To Maintain Spirit Of Understanding, Unity As Exhibited In Wards, Local Government Congresses
Ahead of the State Congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) holding Saturday 16th October, 2021, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has convened an enlarged stakeholders meeting to discuss on how best to arrive at a peaceful, rancor-free and all-inclusive exercise.
Addressing the party stakeholders at the new banquet hall of the Government House, Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed gratitude to APC members, particularly its stalwarts for staying true and contributing their quota to the successes so far recorded by the ruling party starting from its membership registration to ward and Local Government Congresses.
“If not for the transparency adopted by the APC in carrying everyone along in the scheme of things, I am sure by now the hues and cries within the ranks of the party could have been louder and possibly created rancor in the party but we chose to consult and bring everyone on board in the interest of fairplay”.
He assured members of the All Progressives Congress in Gombe State that as the leader of the party, he will continue to provide leadership devoid of ill-will or personal interest.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya appealed to members of the APC in Gombe State to maintain the spirit of cooperation and understanding they displayed during the ward and Local Government Congresses.
“For this reason, I equally enjoin all of us that the State Congress slated for Saturday should also be conducted according to the APC guidelines and by the grace of God we shall do just that because until we are able to produce competent leaders only then we can be hopeful to consolidate on the party’s successes”.
He maintained thst the congresses so far conducted and the State Congress slated to be conducted Saturday were made possible through a wide consultation of party stakeholders to ensure the emergence of best candidates that can run the affairs of the party in the State.
“To this end, we shall ensure that all Local Government Areas in the State are fairly represented in the state working committee of the party in the spirit of equity and Justice”.
The Governor told stakeholders of the APC in Gombe State that the party may not have satisfied the yearnings and aspirations of all but that in its policy of constant consultation, APC has by and large performed credibly well in carrying everyone along.
“It is not possible to satisfy everyone at the same time so anyone who is not lucky to be selected as a leader should exercise patience hence the party is aware of him so also is the Government”.
The Committee Chairman for the Conduct of Congresses in Gombe State, Dr. Danjuma Dabo expressed optimism that the State Congress will take the form and pattern of the ward and local government congresses conducted under the atmosphere of peace and tranquility.
He said his committee will conduct a rigorous screening exercise to ensure that those who eventually emerge as leaders of the party at the State level are of proven integrity.
Some APC stalwarts who spoke during the meeting, expressed solidarity with Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for effective handling of party affairs and governance in the State. They include the Senator representing Gombe North, Sen. Saidu Ahmed Alkali, member representing Dukku/Funakaye Federal Constituency, Hon. Gombe State Government has renewed commitment towards preventing farmer-herder conflicts with a view to consolidating on the prevailing peaceful coexistence among groups and communities in the state.
Commissioner for Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Muhammad Magaji Gettado made the assertion during a stakeholders’ engagement organised by the State government.
The Commissioner said governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya in the year 2020 reactivated the Farmer-Herder (Disputes Prevention and Settlement) Committee under Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry with a view to providing a platform that will be responsible for deploying all strategies to ensure the lingering conflicts between farmers and cattle rearers are averted as in the case in other States of the federation.
Gettado who also serves as Chairman, said the commitee was left dormant in previous years, but with the coming of Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya it was brought back to life and given all needed support to run its activities.
“The main task of the committee is not dispute settlement, but dispute prevention between farmers and herders for the development of our dear state. We will not allow any herder to come into Gombe State until our farmers take all their farm produce back home; therefore from tomorrow, our committee will start visiting emirates and chiefdoms to meet with stakeholders and pass the message across”, the commissioner added.
He expressed strong conviction of the Committee’s determination in ensuring that a room for dispute between the two parties is averted.
“There has to be a dispute among parties first before settlement, in this case, we won’t even allow the dispute to happen as such our Committee is resolute to be preventive in our approach” he affirmed
Earlier in his remark, the permanent secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Barrister Obel Yaji said, the town hall meeting was second of its kind under this administration, adding that it will give room for different stakeholders to rub minds on how to best tackle the problem at hand.
While addressing the gathering, Chairman House of Assembly Committee on Agriculture, Hon Nasiru Abdulkarim commended the state government’s effort in providing a peaceful atmosphere for both farmers and herders to co-exist for the betterment of the people. He maintained that they are doing everything possible to support the yernings and aspirations of their constituents by enacting laws that will help in that regard.
In his remark, a Committee member who is also a Special Adviser to governor on security matters, CP Mohammed Wakili, Rtd, cautioned all parties involved to be conscious of the law and learn to resolve their problems peacefully, noting that no meaningful development can be achieved without peace.
In their separate comments, Chairman Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Assocition, Gombe State Chapter, Alhaji Modibbo Yahaya, his counterpart from All farmers’ Associations of Nigeria (AFAN), Muhammad Yahaya Adamu lauded Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s efforts towards re-activating the committee, assuring that their members will abide by the laws to prevent clashes especially during this time of harvest. They called on the state government to provide more grazing reserves and dams for herders and protect existing grazing reserves and cattle routes from encroachment.
Comments, questions and suggestions from various stakeholders were entertained by the Committee during the meeting calling both parties to avoid anything capable of causing conflict between herders and farmers.
Senior district head of Gombe Alhaji Abdulkadir Abubakar urged farmers to be conscious of imbibing early cropping farming method immediately the wet season sets in to enable them harvest their farm produce earlier.
The Senior district head represented by Dan Iyan Yeriman Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Abdulkadir cautioned both parties to channel their grievance to appropriate authorities than taking law into their hands when ever a dispute arises.
The meeting was also graced by representatives of Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, heads of security outfits, leaders of farmers and herders associations, community leaders among others.

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has charged the new Local Government Congress Executives of the All Progressives Congress, APC not to relent as they begin the onerous task of projecting and protecting the interest of the party, especially with political activities building up ahead of 2023.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya gave the charge while speaking during the inauguration of the elected Local Government Executives at the Gombe State APC secretariat.
The Governor praised the peaceful and transparent process that brought the new LG party officials on board, describing the unity of purpose that permeates through the Gombe State Chapter of the APC as rock solid.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya challenged the new party officials to see their election as a call to service to the party and the people who gave them the mandate.
“Prior to the Congresses, I did promise to bequeath a process where every member of our great party will be proud of and today we are pleased to announce that the outcome was nothing but a true reflection of the yearnings and aspirations of all and sundry”.
The Governor expressed gratitude to the generality of the party faithful for their support and cooperation before and after the formation of the APC-led Government in Gombe State.
“I am confident that our members and indeed the people of Gombe State are happy with our performance so far and we shall continue to deliver on our campaign promises so as deliver on our party’s change mantra”.
He expressed confidence that the State, zonal and the party’s national convention will be peaceful and transparent as witnessed in the already conducted ward and Local Government congresses in the State.
The Governor called on anyone who feels aggrieved with the conduct of the congresses so far to seek redress within the party structure rather than instituting court case, warning that “the party shall enforce discipline and full compliance with the directives of NEC with regards to those who have taken the Party to court as enshrined in Article 21D of the Party’s Constitution”.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya charged the new Local Government party executives as well as chairmen of Local Government Councils of the State to ensure that APC offices in all the Local Government headquarters are up running.
“It is only when these offices are open that we have regular interaction with our party members to understand their plight for appropriate actions; so we shall no longer condone a situation where APC offices at all levels are not open for party activities”.
Earlier speaking, the Chairman of Gombe State APC Caretaker Committee, Mr. Nitte Amangal called on the newly sworn-in Executives to be good ambassadors of the party by extending olive branches to those within and outside the party so as to ensure that APC continues to grow in strength and vigour.

Governor Mohammadu Inuwa Yahaya stated this when the outgoing leadership of Gombe youth Paliament visited him at the Government House shortly after their validictory session at the State House of Assembly Wednesday to appreciate the Governor for his support during their two years in office.
The Youth Parliament equally presented the Governor with the Youth most Friendly Governor award.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government SSG Prof Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, Governor Yahaya assured the youth of his administration commitment to champion the course of the youth.

…Attends Funeral Prayer ( Janazah) of Late Businessman, Community Leader
Gombe State Governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya has expressed grief over the demise of prominent businessman and community leader, Alhaji Audu Sarkin Gishirin Gombe who died today, Wednesday in Gombe at the age of 88 after a protracted illness.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya who was among hundreds of sympathizers that attended the funeral prayer ( Janazah) of the late octogenarian, held at the Bubayero Central Mosque, Gombe, also condoled with the immediate family members of the late statesman and the Gombe Emirate Council.
He described the deceased as a devout Muslim, community leader and strong pillar who live an honourable life and left a legacy of dignity.
He noted that, “Death is inevitable and necessary end that must come when it shall. We are, however, consoled that Late Alhaji Audu Sarkin Gishiri contributed positively to the development of the society during his life time and left an indelible footprint on the sands”.
Governor Yahaya, prayed Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and reward his good deeds with Aljannat Firdaus.

The Governor was first at Jekadafari quarters, Gombe where he consoled with Alhaji Lamido Manu, younger brother of late Alhaji Baba Manu ( ABM) over the demise of his 27 year old son, Abdulrazaq Lamido Manu, who until his death was a Youth Corps member serving in Jigawa state.
Governor Yahaya, equally paid similar visit to the family of late Alhaji Babagoro Kawata who died at the weekend in Gombe. The Governor was received by elder statesman, Ambassador Ibrahim Yarima Abdullahi and other relations of the deceased.
Also, Governor Inuwa was at Manawashi quarters in Pantami Ward, where he consoled with staunch supporter of APC, Malam Yusuf Dahiru Mahdi over the death of his father, Malam Dahiru Jafaru Bulashika Yamta who died recently at the age of 82 years.
In all the places visited, Governor Yahaya conveyed, on behalf of the Government and people of Gombe State, his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
Also, special prayers were offered for Allah’s mercy upon the deceased and for Him to grant them Aljannat Firdaus and give their respective families the fortitude to bear the losses.
The Governor was accompanied by the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Abubakar Inuwa Kari, Commissioner of Justice and Attorney -General, Zubair Muhammad Umar, PPS, Usman Kamara, Executive Secretary, Gombe State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Sa’ad Hassan, Alhaji Buba Sheriff among others.
