Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has commended the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETfund for its relentless intervention towards the physical and Intellectual development of Universities across the country.

He also assured that his administration will continue to seek partnership with the Fund in order to boost the capacity of the State owned higher institutions.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya stated this when he played host to the Chairman of Board of Trustees of TETFUND, Alhaji Kashim Ibrahim Imam at the Government House.

The Governor observed that over 80 percent of structures at the Gombe State University were funded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, a development he said is being replicated across Universities in the country.

He noted that the Fund has equally given priority to human capital development to boost the professional needs of Nigerian Universities, especially in the areas of scientific research and development.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya explained that with the number of Tertiary institutions at the disposal of the State, his administration will always seek partnership with the Fund in order to boost the capacity of the State owned higher institutions.

The Governor expressed confidence in the capacity of Alhaji Kashim Imam to deliver as the Chairman of Board of Trustees of TETfund, expressing optimism that under his leadership Gombe State will always get priority attention.

He said the style of his administration hinges on justifying whatever support it gets from institutions such as TETFUND and therefore called on stakeholders in the Education sector in the State to utilize numerous opportunities provided by the fund.

Earlier speaking, the Chairman, Board of Trustees of Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Alhaji Kashim Ibrahim Imam said since its establishment 10 years ago, the Fund has executed more than ten thousand projects across Nigerian institutions and trained over thirty thousand University staff to obtain masters’ and PhD degrees in both Federal and state Government owned institutions.

Alhaji Imam told Governor Inuwa Yahaya that this year’s budgetary allocation to the Fund was put at Three hundred billion naira which will be used for construction of hostel accommodations for students and development of ICT in the 226 institutions across the country.

He said an innovation centre with the compliment of broad band will be constructed in Gombe town to enable students of higher institutions in the State carry out research using Information Communications Technology.

Governor Inuwa condoles with the Family of James Barka over mother’s death.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has sent a high Powered Delegation to condole with the Provost of the College of Health Technology Kaltungo Dr Seini James Barka over the death of his Mother Mama Shetu James Barka who died recently at the Age of 87.

Conveying the Governor’s condolence message to the Family in Gwandum, Shongom Local Government Area, the Special Adviser on Security Mr. Godfrey Birba said Governor Inuwa Yahaya is pained by the Death of Mama Shetu whom he described as an epitome of Motherhood having trained illustrious Sons who are contributing greatly to the development of Gombe State, urging the Family to take solace and bear with the irreplaceable loss.

Responding on behalf of the Family, Pharmacist Sammy James Barka, former Commissioner Animal Husbandry and Nomadic Affairs thanked Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for identifying with them at their moment of grief by sending such a high Powered Delegation to commiserate with them saying that the family will forever remain grateful for the Governor’s magnanimity.

He prayed God to reward the Governor and wish him well in his task of Governing the Gombe State.

The Gombe State Executive Council meeting, presided over by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has approved the sum of Five Billion naira (5, 000 000) loan for the construction of one thousand housing units
in the State.

Commissioner for information and Culture, Mr Julius Ishaya Lepez made the disclosure at a press briefing shortly after the 16th session of the state executive council meeting held at the council chamber of the government House.

The loan, he said, is to be secured from the Family Housing Fund, famous for giving credit facility to States across the country to address their housing deficit.

He said Council equally deliberated on land administration and masterplan of Gombe metropolis where it noted that the planned integration of customary land title owners into Government layouts was to enable the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya provide social amenities to the people without recourse to the needless payment of compensation each time Government wants to construct road networks or carry out other developmental projects.

Mr Julius Lepes told journalists that Council also received assessment report on the Billiri crisis detailing the number of property destroyed and value attached.

He added that findings by the assessment committee on the crisis indicated that 41 houses were affected which is valued at Ninety four million six hundred thousand six hundred and sixty six naira. (94, 600, 666,)

The Information and Culture Commissioner said 401 business premises were affected out of which 335 shops are owned by individuals while 66 belong to the Billiri Local Government Area, all valued at Three hundred and Eighty three million, One hundred and Forty eight thousand One hundred and thirty five naira. (385,148,135)

He added that 33 worship centres were either burnt down or vandalised, valued at Thirty three million One hundred and Twenty nine thousand Six hundred and sixty seven naira (33,129,667)

Other property affected, as enumerated by Mr Julius Ishaya Lapes, include motor vehicles, motorcycles orchards and animals which were either destroyed, missing or stolen valued at Thirty one million Four hundred and Eighty thousand.(31,480,000)

The Commissioner of information and culture said the overall total of property destroyed as valued by the assessment committee stood at five hundred million and Forty two million, three hundred and fifty eight thousand Four hundred and sixty eight naira(542,358,468)

He said in lieu of the assessment, Council has approved the payment of compensation to individuals who lost loved ones and properties, saying a committee has been set up to draw out modalities for the assistance.

Ease of Doing Business: Gombe Grants Waiver To Business Start-Ups.

The Gombe state Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has approved waiver of payment of business premises fees for business start-ups in the state, to encourage people to venture into businesses without difficulties.

The state’s Commissioner for Trade, Industry and Tourism, Alhaji Mohammed Aliyu announced this development, said the gesture is in compliance with World Bank reform measures on Ease of Doing Business and also as a means of encouraging would-be business men and women to venture into business activities with ease.

According to him, the ministry has launched other reform measures aimed at providing a conducive environment for business and commercial activities to thrive in the state.

“The measures include the review of guidelines on granting approval on construction permits, registration of business properties and enforcing contracts in the administration of justice,” he said.

Cultural Sustainability: Gombe to work in partnership with National Commission for Museum and Monument.

Gombe State Government has expressed readiness to Partner the National Commission for Museum and Munuments to establish Cultural sustainability Centre in the State.

The Secretary to the State Government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi made the disclosure when he received the Curator and officers of the Commission on a courtesy call at the Government House, also disclosed that the State with thirty ethnic Nationalities with diversed Culture orientation will benefit from the partnership as it strive to preserve the State Cultural heritage.

Professor Njodi assured the Commission of the State Government Commitment to meeting some of its challenges especially the establishment of a Gallery and recovery of artifacts for the betterment of future generations.

Njodi further advised the Commission to articulate it’s demands for Government intervention stressing the needs for the Commission to explore all the State historic sites, harness the Culture and traditions of the People.

The State Curator of the National Commission for Museum and Munuments, Hassan Kasim had earlier presented the challenges of the Commission in the State to include lack of facility for its Gallery, inadequate office accomodation and the needs for functional official Vehicle to enable it explore the rich Cultural heritage of the State.

Okada rider visit Gombe SSG pledges support to Governor Inuwa’s administration.

The Secretary to the Gombe State Government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi has allay fears by the Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria Gombe State Chapter that the Gombe State Government may ban their operations in the State.

Professor Njodi stated this when he granted audience to Executives of the Association led by its State chairman Manu Ibrahim at the Gombe House.

He said the letter suggesting the ban on commercial motorcyclists in the State was written by the then Commissioner of Police during the tail end of the immediate past administration and therefore has no binding effect on the present administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

Professor Njodi says in as much as some Okada Riders are use as bait to commit crime, banning their operations in the State will amount to rendering many jobless and the resultant effect can better seen than imagine.

The SSG praised the Association’s readiness to partner with the present administration in the State towards addressing recklessness associated with its members, expunge bad eggs among them and to assist the Inuwa Yahaya’s led administration’s drive to boost Internally Generated Revenue IGR in the State.

Professor Njodi use to occasion to explain to his guests that it was the intention of the present administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya to transform the State by making it an economic power house of the north east sub-region.

To this end the Secretary to the Gombe State Government says the Infrastructural development currently been undertaken by the present administration in the State was to make the State a safe destination for business activities to thrive.

“You all are witnesse to the fact that the State is now ranked first in the ease of doing business in the country, and the impact is gradually coming into the State with the steady influx of companies such as the Madugu cement Factory and host of other agro allied companies”.

Earlier speaking the chairman of Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria Gombe State Chapter Malam Manu Ibrahim said they were at the Government House to intimate the present administration in the State of its readiness to partner with it towards achieving a crime free society.

They appeal to the Gombe State Government not to contemplate banning activities of the Association in the State because of the pool of people making a living out of it.

“In Gombe metropolis alone we have over twenty thousand members while in the entire State we have over one hundred and twenty thousand members so you see the Association is huge and banning will be tantamount to increasing crime rate in the State”.

He said the Association has put in place adequate measures to ensure displine among its members while ensuring that motorcycles operators in the State pays taxes to the Government as at when due pledeging their unalloyed Support to the Inuwa Yahaya led administration.

Congresses: Gombe APC Elects Ward Executives in Peaceful, Transparent Process.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya was earlier today at his Jekadafari Ward in Gombe metropolis where he attended and participated at the affirmation of the result of the APC Ward Congress conducted through consensus method.

Recall that stakeholders of the APC in Gombe State had adopted a resolution to hold the party’s congresses at ward, local government and state levels via consensus in line with the guidelines of the National Caretaker/ Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee.

The exercise went simultaneously and peacefully across all the 114 wards of the state.

A team from the National Headquarters of the APC, under the chairmanship of Dr. Danjuma Dabo presided over the ward congresses and received results on behalf of the party.

Speaking shortly after being presented with the new Executive members of Jekadafari ward, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya praised the smooth conduct of the exercise in the ward, describing it a precursor for the emergence of credible leadership for party in the State.

He explained that exercise was in line with the APC guidelines which mandated States across the country to begin the process of electing Party Executives which can come through outright election or concensus method.

“Yes before now we had leaders in the APC at all levels in the State but base on the guidelines of the party, elections are expected to be conducted to give room for new crop of leaders to stir the affairs of the party for some years to come”.

” I am delighted with the conduct of our party men and women and I congratulate our new officials”.

The Governor noted that the peaceful conduct of the ward congress in Jekadafari was an indication that the people of the area are not only advocates of democracy but staunch allies of his administration, which was examplified and demonstrated in the event organised by Jekadafari Community Forum to honor him.

The Governor promised those that have been replaced through the ward Congress will continue to remain bonafide members of the party and relevant in scheme of things.

To the newly elected Ward Executives, Governor Inuwa Yahaya charged them to exhibit absolute loyalty to the party as the APC will not tolerate division and other actions that are inimical to its progress and development..

The team of APC officials, alongside some observers were also at the ward collation centres in Dawaki, Shamaki, Nasarawo and others to sample the outcome of the exercise.

In an interview, the Chairman of APC Congress Committee for Gombe State, Dr. Danjuma Dabo said the exercise was not only peaceful but conducted in accordance to APC guidelines, expressing satisfaction with the overall process.

The coordinator of the ward congress in Gombe Local Government, Barnabas Maspara Jessu expressed delight over the conduct of the exercise across the area, saying it was the choice of the people that emerged in process.

The Chairman of Gombe Local Government council, Aliyu Usman Haruna described the exercise in Gombe Local Government Area as peaceful and transparent which saw the emergence of the people’s choice.

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has expressed gratitude to Jekadafari Community Forum for recognising his administration’s commitment to turn around the fortunes of the State.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya stated this at an event organized ,by the Jekadafari Community Forum to mark his administration’s second year in office and to honour him for superlative performance in the period under review.

The Governor equally thanked Jekadafari Community Forum for rekindling the bond of unity and togetherness amongst the people of the area through lending a helping hand especially to the less privileged ones, describing the efforts by the Forum to support 500 individuals as noble.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya used the occasion to call on sons and daughters of Jekadafari to continue to unite and forge a common front for the continuous growth and development of the Area.

He explained that the relationship that binds him and the people of Jekadafari transcends beyond the Governorship position which he occupies but is consummated on both paternal and maternal bond because he considers every home in the community as his own.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya also called on youths in the community and the State at large to engage themselves in meaningful ventures no matter how menial such craftsmanship may seem, describing the current economic challenges confronting the nation as one that is enough to bring out ingenuity of a person.

The Governor said his administration will continue to do everything necessary to provide condusive environment for doing business so that the State can continue to witness the influx of industries such as the soon to be established Madugu/ Sinoma Cement Factory in Kembu and Kwali.

Chairman of the occasion, Bashir Nuhu Aliko said Jekadafari Community Forum deemed it necessary to honour one of their illustrious sons in the person of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for not only making them proud but for bringing monumental social, economic and infrastructural development to the State in just two years.

He said to compliment the Governor’s giant stride, the Jekadafari Community Forum decided to pull resources with a view to assisting the less privileged in the community.

The District head of Doma, Alhaji Abdullahi Maikano said Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has performed credibly well in the last two years in office and did not let his people down, saying its for this reason that the traditional Council of Doma District honoured him with the revered title of Santurankin Doma.

Earlier in his address of welcome the chairman of Jekadafari Community Forum Dr. Lawal Bala said the event was put together to celebrate the administrative acumen of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya who has done so much with so little, referencing the economic meltdown occasioned by the covid-19 Pandemic.

Others who spoke in solidarity with Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya included Alhaji Muhammad Ali Kumo, Malam Hamza Adamu Soye and Abdulkadir Inuwa Basha.

Highlights of the occasion were the turbaning of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya as the Santurankin Doma and presentation of award of excellence to the Governor in recognition of his Meritorious Service to the People of Gombe State.

Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya, on Tuesday warned youths in the state to shun politics of violence and bitterness.

Yahaya gave the advice when people of Akko Local Government Area of the state visited him in his office.

He said the warning was imperative in view of the recent clashes among supporters of political parties during Sallah festivities in parts of the state.

The governor said his administration would only support politics of peace, stressing that “it is only in a peaceful atmosphere that development can be achieved.

“We need to take drastic measures on this matter so that insecurity that is pervasive and is encroaching on us will not catch up with us.

“The warning is to restore normalcy so we can move forward. I am not happy that some people are taking us backwards, and without security, there won’t be progress,” he said.

The governor warned individuals or groups using the youths to cause mayhem in the state, adding that: “No politician’s ambition is worth the life of anyone.

“I will not allow some people to take laws into their own hands and kill people because those people will not send their relatives to be killed.

“I am not in support of any politics to kill and destroy property, I am for development and I stand for peace.”

Yahaya commended the people for their support, noting that with peace more development would reach them.

Habu Mu’azu, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, urged the people of Akko Local Government Area to jettison politics of bitterness and embrace peace.

Mua’zu said: “We are all one; so there is no need for us to be fighting one another because of politicians.”

The APC stalwart said if the skirmishes in Akko were left unattended to, it might be replicated in other parts of the state.

He urged the governor to deal decisively with persons found to be engaged in acts capable of breaching the peace in the state.

Mu’azu appealed to the community leaders not to allow themselves to be used by politicians, and strive to maintain peaceful coexistence in their domains.

Abubakar Barambu, Chairman, Akko Local Government Area thanked the governor for the developmental projects executed in the area.

Barambu said the gesture would improve the social and economic well-being of the rural dwellers.

Gombe State House of Assembly Commends Governor Inuwa’s Developmental Drive in Unanimous Resolution.

Gombe State House of Assembly has commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for exhibiting the spirit of continuity, patriotism and extraordinary performance in road infrastructure carried out across the eleven Local Government Areas of the State.

The House, in its sitting on Tuesday 13th July 2021, passed a resolution after deliberating on the oversight function by the House committee on works and transport on the status of ongoing road projects executed by the present administration across the state in fulfillment of one of its campaign promises tagged “Gombe State network eleven hundred” road project.

The resolution was conveyed to the Governor through resolution number signed by the clerk to the house, Barr. Rukayyatu Adamu Jalo.
