Following renewed communal violence that erupted between Lunguda and Waja ethnic groups in Balanga Local Government Area, the Gombe State Government has imposed a 24 hour curfew on some communities, including Nyuwar, Jessu, Heme, Yolde Gelentuku, Sikam, Wala-Lunguda and environs with immediate effect.
The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, who made the announcement, said the decision followed renewed violence that erupted in the communities earlier today.
According to the SSG, the curfew becomes necessary to restore peace and order in the affected areas.
He said security personnel have been deployed to restore normalcy while the curfew will subsist until further notice.”

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya says inspite of the global economic meltdown occasioned by the covid-19 pandemic, his administration is fully committed towards actualizing all campaign promises made to the people of the State
The Governor stated this when he played host to Akko Community at the Banquet Hall of the Government House.
He said the projects, currently being executed by his administration in Akko Local Government Area and by extension the entire state, are in line with his campaign manifesto whose main focus is to reposition the state for effective and efficient service delivery to the people.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya explained that the mandate given to him by the people of Akko and the entire state, is a trust of leadership that is gradually transforming into the provision of infrastructural development and other social services for the benefit of the people.
He disclosed that his administration stands at a vantage position of appreciating the challenges facing the people of the state owing to the needs assessment he undertook, stating that the Gombe State Government under his leadership will do everything necessary to fulfill the over 180 campaign promises made to the people of the State.
“Whatever successes we have recorded so far, is in line with our campaign promises and our administration’s commitment to reach every section of the State, so far I can say of the 180 campaign promises we made to the people, I make bold to say that we have achieved two third of it and we shall continue on this path of repositioning the State”.
The Governor said some of the completed road projects in Akko Local Government Area were inherited from the immediate past administration, assuring his guests of a mammoth crowd that his administration will soon embark on the construction of some critical road networks such as the one linking Kumo and Kidda.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya also disclosed that his administration has secured partnership with the World Bank to construct a total of Seven hundred and fifty kilometres of road networks across the State.
The Governor said his administration had to award the contract for the construction of the Kumo General Hospital to a reputable company of International reckoning due to the structural defects of the facility, disclosing also that through a lobby he personally undertook, a 150- bed capacity hospital is being constructed within Akko Local Government Area by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
“I also want to tell the people of Akko local government area that my administration has planned to move School of nursing and midwifery to your community through a construction of multi million naira edifice with a view to expanding the institution’s students admission’s capacity from 150 to 600”.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya used the occasion to issue a stern warning to those in the habit of manipulating the political system to foment trouble to be wary of the negative move, as his administration will not condone any act of lawlessness.
“Peace is very essential and fundamental to our cooperate existence as a state and as a nation without which no development can be achieved, so I call on all and sundry to eschew bitterness and leave in peace; the law is blind and will catch up with anyone no matter how highly placed”
Earlier, the Emirs of Akko Umar Mohammed Atiku; Pindiga, Ahmed Mohammed Seyoji and the Lamido Gona Abdulkadir Umar all affirmed that the people in their respective domains remain grateful and indebted to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his social and economic intervention in their areas.
The Royal fathers also acknowledged his love and respect for the traditional institution, citing the recent increment of salaries of district and ward heads among others.
They pledged the support and solidarity of their subjects to the administration of Governor Inuwa Yahaya, describing the achievements recorded in the last two years as monumental that should receive the support of men and women of goodwill. They also attributed the prevailing atmosphere of peace in the state to the Governor’s commitment in that direction.
In their separate remarks, the member representing Akko Federal Constituency, Hon. Usman Bello Kumo, Speaker Gombe State House of Assembly, Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Luggerewo, enumerated and appreciated some of the developmental projects executed by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya in Akko LGA and assuring that the people of the area will certainly reciprocate the gesture.
Other speakers, including an elder statesman, Alhaji Lamido Chikaire and APC chieftain, Abubakar Muazu also paid glowing tribute to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for displaying rare characteristics of a true leader and democrat whose goal is always to better the lives of the people. They particularly appreciated the Governor for awarding contract for the construction of the Kumo General Hospital which they said they have been yearning and clamouring for for over 40 years.

Earlier today, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya paid a condolence visit to Alhaji Danbabu Abakura Mohammed over the death of his son, Major Auwal Danbabu Muhammad who died recently in a road accident alongside his wife, Fadila Auwalu Shehu Brema and daughter, Aisha.
Governor Inuwa was accompanied by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, Chief of Staff, Alhaji Abubakar Inuwa Kari, Commissioners, PPS and other government functionaries.
Recall that the Governor had earlier led a delegation on a similar visit to Alhaji Auwalu Shehu Brema father of the late wife of the deceased military officer at their Kumbiya- Kumbiya family residence where he consoled them over the tragic loss of their loved ones.
The Governor had also in a statement earlier released, lamented the death of the trio, describing it as a huge loss to Gombe State and its people as well as Nigeria in general.
He said, “The loss of young persons at their prime age, is usually a moment of heartbreak for anyone, especially for family members, friends and associates. We join in your grief and on behalf of the Government and people of Gombe, we condole with you and pray that Almighty Allah will grant them Aljannat Firdaus”.

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya says he received with great shock the unfortunate death of Major Auwal Danbabu Muhammad, who lost his life in a ghastly motor accident alongside his wife, Fadila Auwalu Shehu Brema and their only daughter, Aisha.The accident occurred along Zamfara- Kano Road.
Until his death, Major Auwal Danbabu was the staff officer at 1 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Gusau in Zamfara state.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya had yesterday led a delegation on a condolence visit to Alhaji Shehu Brema family at their Kumbiya- Kumbiya residence where he consoled them over the tragic loss of their loved ones.
He lamented that the loss of loved ones is always an unfathomable tragedy, which is usually compounded when such death occurs at an prime age.

Gombe has started reaping the benefits of its new status as number one state in terms of ease of doing business with a Chinese conglomerate, Sinoma International Engineering Company Limited in partnership with an indigenous company, Madugu Cement coming to establish a five million metric tonnes Cement Factory in Kembu and Kwali districts of Akko and Yalmatu Deba Local Government Areas of the State.
Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya earlier today met with the investors at the Government House.
The Governor informed them that with the prevailing atmosphere of peace and tranquility in the State, coupled with the hospitality of its people, Gombe is equally endowed with human and natural resources suitable for investors to explore for and cause a social and economic change.
He explained that in order to put the State on the path of progressive development, his administration has revamped the health and other critical sectors and institutionalised policies and programmes that will enhance and boost economic activities in the State.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya further explained that the location of Gombe at the centre of the North East makes it a hub for a robust commercial activities in the sub-region which has a market population of about 25 million people.
“Your coming here is very apt and we welcome you most profoundly because we benefited from the existence of the one and only cement company in the sub-region, infact in the whole of the North we have only 4 cement plants; those of Obajana, Sokoto, then Gboko and that of Ashaka; so any number on top of these ones will only improve on our economic activities, improve on our infrastructure to the people of the sub-region”.
The Governor said the recent award of the State as number 1 in terms of ease of doing business in the country is not by accident but a deliberate approach of facilitating business activities by his administration to make the State a choice destination for both local and foreign investors.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya thanked the Chairman of Madugu Cement Factory, Mohammed Ibrahim Madugu, a son of the soil, for the bold initiative, saying the North East in particular is home to many mineral desposits of commercial quantity.
He said Gombe State can contain up to 3 cement factories owing to vast deposits of Gypsun and the viability to produce both hydro and coal powered energies, describing the 40 megawatts Dadin kowa hydro plant as a one stop shop.
The Governor noted that with the complimenting business variables in the State and its status as number 1 in ease of doing business, no investors should contemplate on coming to invest in the State on the grounds of favourability.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya therefore assured Madugu Cement Factory and its Chinese partners that his administration will clear the coast for their business engagement to thrive for the overall benefit of the people of the State.
The Chairman, Madugu Cement Factory, Mohammed Ibrahim Madugu informed Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya that the 5 million metric tonnes cement factory will be executed in two phases with the first one having the capacity for 2.5 million metric tonnes.
He said when completed, the company will create jobs, boost local economy and aid revenue generation as well as social corporate responsibility to the people especially the host communities.
Mohammed Ibrahim Madugu said their coming to the Government House was to intimate the Governor on their investment plan and to seek for his support and blessings.

The Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar lll has paid glowing tribute to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his holistic approach in addressing the myriad of challenges in the state and for his pragmatic leadership which he said has led to the execution of life changing projects..
The Emir, who was on a traditional sallah homage to the Governor at the Government House, particularly applauded the Governor’s numerous developmental projects, particularly the ‘network eleven hundred’ project in which at least one hundred kilometres of roads are being constructed in each of the eleven Local Government areas of the State.
He also scored the Governor very high in areas of revitalization of healthcare facilities and repositioning the education sector among others, describing the achievements so far recorded by the Governor as monumental and unprecedented.

All Progressives Congress, APC stakeholders in Gombe state have unanimously agreed to adopt consensus method during the forthcoming party’s congresses at ward, local government an state levels.
In a two point communiqué read by the state Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya after the stakeholders meeting held at the New Banquet Hall of the Government House, the APC stalwarts also unanimously affirmed their unalloyed loyalty to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya to provide direction to the party both in the build up to and during the congresses in the state and always.
The communique read in part, “The meeting resolved to adopt consensus in the forthcoming congresses of the party at the ward, Local government and state levels.
“The meeting also affirmed loyalty to the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya in providing direction to the party in the conduct of all congresses that will come up very soon at all levels in the state.”
Governor Inuwa Yahaya had, while speaking during the meeting, said the unanimous endorsement by the critical stakeholders of the APC that the party adopts a consensus method in the forthcoming State Congress as permitted by the guidelines of the National Care Taker/ Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, is an indication that the party is rock solid and indivisible in the State.
The Governor expressed his gratitude to APC stakeholders and supporters in the State for their support and encouragement without which he said, he would not have been Governor.
He assured stakeholders at the meeting that the APC Government under his leadership will do everything necessary to deliver on its campaign promises which have so far seen the revitalization of the health sector, revamping of Agriculture, repositioning of education, construction of road networks across the State as well as the institutionalization of policies and programmes for the economic growth and development of the State among other areas.
While commending stakeholders of the party in the State for their understanding and cooperation so far, the Governor reminded them that not everyone is destined to be a leader but that the party is committed to carrying everyone along in the scheme of things.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya used the occasion to explain the social and economic challenges facing the State viz-a- viz the quest by politicians for political patronage, saying while his administration is doing the needful in the areas of infrastructure and human capital development, stakeholders of the party will also be carried along.
Earlier speaking, the former Governor of Gombe State, Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje expressed gratitude with the turn of events at the APC stakeholders meeting, throwing his weight behind the concensus method to demonstrate the unity of the party in the State.
“Let’s allow the Governor to chart the course for the party in the State and I have the conviction that the Governor will do justice in that regard”.
Senator Danjuma Goje therefore called for understanding and cooperation across board irrespective of the outcome of the congresses, saying it is only by so doing that the party can wax stronger and continue to provide good leadership in the State.
The Acting Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Gombe State, Mr Nitte Amangal told stakeholders at the meeting that the laws and guidelines of the party make provision for concensus in electing party officials, expressing confidence that APC with the consensus, the party’s unity and strength will continue to blossom, especially with Governor Inuwa Yahaya at the helm.

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya earlier today, presented brand new GAC Sedan ( Saloon) utility vehicles to the eleven Local Government Councils Chairmen in the State.
While performing the ceremony at the Government House, Gombe, Governor Inuwa Yahaya said the decision to procure the vehicles was necessary to enable the local government helmsmen function in their official duties.
The Governor charged them to make judicious use of the cars, adding that with the vehicles, they will be able to reach all areas under their supervision and operate more efficiently.
Governor Yahaya restated his administration’s commitment to support local governments in the state to serve the people better, especially those at the grassroots.
“I am highly happy and very impressed with the quality of these brand new vehicles meant for use as utility vehicles by our local government Chairmen. Over time since we came in, we realized that the Chairmen were finding it very difficult in terms of mobility and we were equally finding it difficult to coordinate the operation of the local governments because of the challenges they have with regards to transportation”.
“It is in this regards that the ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs requested and obtained approval for the provision of the utility vehicles for the Chairmen and this is why this vehicles have been procured for them, So I congratulate you on this”.
“Let me remind all the people that we started with buying utility vehicles for the primary health care development agency. So all heads of primary health care in the local government were given 4×4 pickups so that they will coordinate their jobs and do the proper things and that’s already yielding results.
“As at today all our wards, a hundred and fourteen of them, have at least one functional primary health care center spread across the state that is being coordinated and management; so I should expect the Chairmen too to do same so that we have a very functional and well coordinated service delivery that will help the state to move forward”.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ibrahim Dasuki Jalo, who presented the vehicles to the Governor for his inspection and onward presentation to the beneficiaries, attested to the quality and durability of the vehicles.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Chairman of Gombe Local Government Council, Alhaji Aliyu Usman Haruna who is also the Chairman of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Gombe State, appreciated the Governor for the gesture and promised to use them for the purpose they were meant for.

He noted that, from the countenance of the People gathered in their thousands at the palace of Mai Kaltungo for the Celebration indicated that dispite economic challenges the People of Kaltungo are happy with the impact of Governor Yahaya’s administration especially in infrastructural development in the Chiefdom.

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya earlier today led digniteries, including former Governor of the state, Sen. Muhammad Danjuma Goje, Minister of communications and digital economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, Speaker of the state House of Assembly and members of both federal and state legislatures among others to observe the two Raka’at Eid prayer at the central Eid praying ground in Gombe.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya and the dignitaries joined the Emir of Gombe, Dr Abubakar Shehu Abubakar lll at the prayer ground to commemorate the start of the Eid el-Kabir festival.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya while addressing newsmen shortly after a reception he hosted for the guests, further buttressed his Sallah message which he had earlier issued to the people of the State, calling on the ummah to sacrifice more for the corporate existence of the country and in the spirit of the season.
The Governor said the virtue of Eid El-Kabir which connotes love, obedience and sacrifice are needed for the corporate existence of the country and for individual relationships so that Nigerians can leave together as brothers and sisters.
“Our understanding transcends through religious divides and through our cultural, geographical or political difference; that spirit and brotherhood we should maintain and ensure the survival and success of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya urged Nigerians to continually to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari and all leaders at all levels.
“And here in Gombe, the Government, the traditional leadership and the leadership of the Ummah and our Christian brothers, the Clerics and the Church leaders are all collaborating so that all of us work together for the benefit of mankind and for the upliftment of the Nigerian society”.
He noted that the country is going through hard times in in its social, economic and political spheres as well as health wise, particularly with the challenges posed by the covid-19 Pandemic, stressing that Nigerians need to be together and support one another as the nation meanders through the trying period.

He called on Muslim faithful to intensify prayers for return of peace in Nigeria and bumper harvest, especially at a time when rainy season is in full swing.
Sheikh Mohammed Umar Pindiga thereafter performed the symbolic slaughtering of a ram, signifying the commencement of the festival in earnest.
