Gombe state Government is set to commence the payment of another tranche of outstanding gratuity to retired civil servants in the state.
This follows the release of 775 million Naira by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for the payment of the retirees’ benefits.
Sequel to the Governor’s directives, the committee set up by His Excellency to verify and ascertain the correctness of outstanding gratuity owed state retirees has concluded arrangements to commence the payment and therefore requests retired state civil servants from January to December 2015, to come forward for verfication and collection of their entitlements.
The exercise, according to the Chairman of the committee and State Auditor-General, Muhammad Buba Gombe will hold tomorrow, Monday, 15th March, 2021 at the Treasury Headquarters, Gombe by 9:00 O’clock in the morning.
According to the committee, LIFE RETIREES are to come along with Audited Computation sheet, Bank Verification Number (BVN), Civil Service Commission ( CSC) approval for retirement and Identification Card (I.D Card) while dependants of LATE RETIREES are to present Letter of Administration (from the probate Registry High Court of Justice, Gombe State), Death Certicate and Original Computation sheet
Recall that the administration of Governor Inuwa Yahaya had inherited liabilities of gratuity arrears of over N14 billion from the past administration which had abandoned the payment of the retirees’ entitlement since 2014. Governor Inuwa had earlier approved the payment of over N1.6 billion for payment of gratuity arrears.’

The Emir of Gombe Dr. Abubakar Shehu Abubakar has commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for the maintaining peace and security in the State.
Dr. Abubakar gave the commendation during the closing ceremony of the 24th Edition of the Gombe State Quranic Recitation Competition held in Kaltungo on Saturday.
He said it is as result of the Governor’s effort that we are carrying our religious activities in a peaceful atmosphere adding that with out peace no meaning development can be achieved.
Represented by a Former Grand Khadi, Khadi Baba Liman the Emir call on traditional and religious leaders to continue to pray for the Peace and security of the State.
He also emphasize the need for Muslims Faithful to imbibed the habits of reading and reciting the Holy Qur’an as solutions to every problem calling on Muslim to embraced both Islamic and western Education.
“I call on you all especially our youths to take advantage of the institutions in the State to further your Education as acquiring both Religious and Western Education is panacea for human development”
On his part Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, represented at the occasion by the Secretary to the State Government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi noted that Government will continue to support religious activities especially the Educational aspect so that, the younger generation would acquire both Religious and Western Education.
“Government at all levels is much aware of it’s responsibility on the Education of all eligible persons and the general well- being of the citizens”.
He however said issues relating to moral and spiritual development requires much effort from parents in particular and the Community in general.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya said formation of good moral character, attitude and behavior has its foundation from home and task parents and guardians to play their roles as this is the only way to safe guard the youths from the influence of the misguided.
To the young competitors, the Governor draw their attention on the fact that there are neither winners nor losers, but rather they should look at the competition as an avenue to fear Allah and be closer to him.
He Congratulated the winners of the Competition and prayed for successful outing of the State contingents at the forth coming national Quranic competition slated for Kano State.
Commissioner for Education Dauda Batari Zambuk commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for supporting the week long event and appealed to wealthy individuals to always support Government effort in religious activities such as the Qur’anic Recitation Competition which will go a long way in improving the morals of the younger ones.
Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of prizes to winners of Sixty Hibs and tafsir and other categories.

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya says his administration remains committed to the transformation of the education sector for the overall benefit of the people of the State.
The Governor who made this assertion at the closing ceremony of the 24th Edition of State Qur’anic Recitation Competition held in Kaltungo, also requested people of the State to support the course of Education.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, the Governor assures that his administration will give adequate attention to both religious and Western Education of the people especially as it affects the younger generation.
He however explained that all stake holders must play their part for the Government to achieve the noble effort of lifting the people out of illetracy and poverty.
Governor Yahaya commended the Ministry of Education and the organising Committee, Panel of Judges, Scholars and the participants for conducting themselves in an orderly manner which according to him brought about the success of the competition.
He Commend the Mai Kaltungo Engineer Sale Mohammed for providing support and guidance for the week long competition to select the State’s representative to the 45th National Qur’anic Recitation Competition scheduled for the 19th of March 2021 in Kano.
While praying for a Successful outing for the State’s Contingents, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya assured that the Government will support such a noble course for the good of the society.
In their good will messages the Emir of Gombe represented by former Grand Khadi Baba Liman and the Commissioner for Education Dauda Batari Zambuk appealed to parents to prioritize the Education of their Children as a means of quality livelihood.
The Guest at the event, Mallam Dawood Abubakar of the Federal University Kashere dwelt on poverty concern in the society and challenged Muslims Faithful to repent and trust in Allah for solutions in the Qur’an.
Malam Dawood said the level of poverty in Muslim society is worrisome explaining that this can only be addressed when people take both Islamic and western Education serious.
He said,to reduce poverty among the people there must be social justice in Governance, trust in Allah, sincere fight against Corruption, job creation and increase in spending on good courses.
Prizes were presented to outstanding participant including Cars to the Male and Female overall winners , Suleiman Mohammed of Dukku Local Government and Aishatu Kabiru Shuibu from Akko Local Government respectively.

…As Gombe Governor Receives Special Qatari Emblem for Prioritizing Humanitarian Service
Gombe state Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has been debriefed by the Qatar Charity Foundation on the organization’s asssesment tour of proposed projects sites under its charity mission in some communities in Gombe state.
The Country Director, Sheikh Hamdi Mohamed Elsayed told Governor Inuwa Yahaya that his team had visited over 50 villages across the eleven LGAs of Gombe state and identified sites and locations in different Communities that deserve intervention.
“Though we have so far already started executing projects in few communities, but we are assuring his excellency that before the sacred month of Ramadan sets in, Gombe state will feel the impact of our projects”.
He said full time project implementation will commence in few weeks, coming with emphasis on quality work in every project.
Sheikh Hamdi was confident that the foundation’s projects across Gombe state will be completed before the year 2021 runs out.
He said some of the communities visited, including Lambam, Shinga in Yamaltu Deba, Kupto in Funakaye LGA, Bambam in Balanga LGA and a host of others have in one way or the other started benefitting from the foundation’s projects where mosques and houses were built, healthcare facilities and solar powered boreholes were also constructed.
He assured of the foundation’s committed to constructing additional classrooms and hostels for the Special School in Gombe metropolis.
“We are also planning to construct a solar powered borehole for the Special School in Gombe as well as provide them with modern teaching and learning facilities that can enhance their learning process and compete with their counterparts in other climes”.
He thanked Governor Yahaya for the hospitality and support accorded his team throughout their eight weeks’ stay in Gombe.
Responding, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya noted with satisfaction the dividends of partnership between Gombe state government and Qatar Charity Organisation, which he said will compliment his Administration’s drive towards alleviating poverty and empowering the teeming populace.
The Governor observed that when fully implemented, the charity projects of the QC will impact positively on the lives of many communities across the eleven local government areas of the state.
“I am looking forward to seeing the full implementation of your charity projects across the state so that our people will be relieved from hardship”.
During the visit, the QC’s Country Director, Sheikh Hamdi presented Governor Inuwa Yahaya with a Special Qatari Emblem in recognition of the Governor’s prioritization of humanitarian services in his state.

…Seeks Collaboration to Convert Snakebite Treatment Hospital in Kaltungo to Full Pledged Research Centre
Gombe state government is taking measures to upgrade Government Secondary school Doma and others to mega institutions.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya made the disclosure during a meeting with the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire at the Gombe State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.
The Governor said Government Girls Secondary School Doma was selected for upgrade considering the vast land, strategic location of the institution and other factors.
“After a meeting with SSA to Mr President on SDGs, we agreed that two separate storey buildings with 12 classrooms each will be constructed in the school with each block having 6 classrooms at the upstairs and another six classes at the ground floor”.
He said aside from construction and equipping of classrooms, the intervention project will also provide a standard sporting facility which will comprise a football pitch and sports pavilion with a view to making the school more friendly for students.
“For the school to be more conducive for learning, the project will also provide basic amenities for students to have a stable mind in their academic pursuits, as such portable water will be provided and street light equipment will also be installed among other recreational facilities”.
Governor Yahaya added that a resolution was reached with the SDGs that Jauro Tudunwada Primary and Junior Secondary Schools located within the metropolis will also be renovated and upgraded with modern operational facilities.
He lauded the federal government/ SDGs’ intervention in Gombe, citing the construction of the nearly completed 120- bed capacity healthcare facility in Malam Inna and the ongoing multi million naira skills acquisition centre along Gombe state high court complex which if completed, he said, will empower teeming youths in the state.
Governor Yahaya said his request on the reactivation and upgrading of the Snakebite Treatment Hospital in Kaltungo and the plan to convert it into a full pledged research centre in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Health and the SDGs office was also discussed at the closed door session, expressing confidence that the raised issue will yield a fruitful result.
The Governor expressed appreciation to SDGs officials for the unrelenting support being accorded Gombe state and pledged his commitment in sustaining the harmonious relationship which he noted is already fetching development to his state.
Earlier, in her remarks, Princess Adefulire lauded Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s developmental strides, especially his recently unveiled 10- year development plan, which she noted is aligned to SDGs.
While describing the meeting with the Governor as fruitful, the SSA to the President on SDGs assured that her office will remain resolute in supporting states that have governors with political will of bringing developments to their people as exemplified by Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
Gombe state government officials at the meeting included the Special Adviser to the Governor on Budget, Planning and Development Partners Coordination, Dr Ishiyaku Mohammed, Special Adviser on Abuja Liaison, Hon Usman Aliyu Garry and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals, Bashir Tukur.

The Gombe State Commissioner of Health Dr. Habu Dahiru says 65 cases of Cholera have been reported at the Liji Primary Health Care Centre in Yalmatu Deba Local Government Area of the State.
The Commissioner stated this when he led some Senior staffs of the State Ministry of health to the Liji health facilities where 18 patients are currently on admission while 43 have been treated and discharged.
Dr Habu Dahiru who was briefed on arrival by the Director Public health in the Ministry Dr. David Karatu and the State Epidemiologist Dr. Nuhu Bile on the outbreak also went round the wards to empathize with the patients and assured them of the State Government preparedness to arrest the outbreak.
He said the Ministry in conjunction with the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control NCDC and the World Health Organisation will work in consonance ascertain the strand of the Cholera for effective action and treatment.
He said the Ministry has trigger it emergency response mechanism in all health facilities across the State should the outbreak spread to other parts of the State.
He called on the people of the State not to panic but to be on the lookout for signs of diarrhoea and vomiting and report same to the nearest health facility for action.
The advised members of the public to improve on their personal and environmental hygiene and to mindful of the cleanliness of what they eat or drink .
Earlier the Director Public Health in the Ministry of Health Dr. David Karatu and the State Epidemiologist Dr. Nuhu Bile had told the Commissioner that as a result of the outbreak they have began a socal mobilization at the community levels to create awareness.

….Health Ministry Targets Frontline Workers, Others in phase 1 of exercise
Gombe State Government has received delivery of its share of AstraZeneca covid-19 vaccine doses, enough to cover 35,000 individuals slated for the first phase of the vaccination exercise in the State, including frontline workers and others.
The Commissioner of Health, Dr.Habu Dahiru stated this while briefing Journalists on the receipt of the covid-19 vaccines consignment and preparations by the state government and other development partners to ensure a hitch-free exercise when it gets underway.
According to the Health Commissioner, the first phase of the vaccination doses will be administered on frontline health workers in public and private health facilities, rapid response and contact tracing teams as well as military and para- military organisations.
He said the second phase will be administered on the aged persons from 50 years and above while the third phase will be given to individuals with significant co-morbidity like asthma, hypertension and other chronic conditions, whereas the fouth phase will involve individuals at risk of contracting diseases.
“For this purpose, we have to prepare a robust team in Gombe State and we started with the planning meeting with our colleagues from the National Primary Health Care and development partners”.
He said the State Ministry of Health, Primary Health Care Agency and development partners have triggered a robust plan which included a meeting to identify activities that will be conducted for a successful implementation of the vaccination exercise.
Dr. Habu Dahiru said to ensure the success of the vaccination, a ‘train the trainers’ workshop is underway at the state level and is expected to be cascaded to the local government areas for effective coverage.
He said those to administer the vaccines must be health workers who are certified to give injection and will be trained on side and method of administration of the AstraZeneca.
“Asisde from that, we are also going to do a micro plan to see what is required for us to have this immunization without any hitch in terms of all the needs and resources”
He said the Ministry of Health and other relevant Government agencies and development partners in the State will engage in community sensitisation activities to improve demand for the vaccines as well as the establishment of committees that will aid the successful implementation of the vaccination exercise.
These committees, as explained by the Commissioner of health, include that of waste management, vaccine accountability committee and Adverse Effects committee that will be on the lookout in the case of any reaction on the human body as a result of taking the vaccine.
“We are planning a State flag-off ceremony which will be performed by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya to signal the roll out of the exercise”.
He said during the flag-off exercise, strategic leaders will be immunized as a symbolism for the citizens of the State to know and appreciate the safety of the AstraZeneca jab.
Dr. Habu Dahiru assured the people of the State that the covid-19 vaccine is safe and that the State Government has made all necessary arrangements to maintain its efficacy at the State, Local and ward levels.
“The vaccines are currently in our cold room which is big enough to accommodate all the vaccines of the North East and at the Local and Ward levels, the Inuwa Yahaya- led administration has provided solar powered refrigerators that are recommended for the storage of the covid-19 vaccine, he assured.

…As Governor Yahaya Stresses Need for Peaceful Coexistence Between Farmers and Herders
Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya says inspite of pausity of funds, his administration has procured enough vaccines and other veterinary equipment for the annual Statewide vaccination campaign against contagious disease threatening the survival of cattle, sheep and goats in the State.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya was speaking at the flag-off of the 2020/2021 statewide vaccination campaign against contagious Bovin Pleuro-Pneuminia in cattle and other ruminants such as sheep and goats at Gadam Kwami local government area.
The Governor said the occasion demonstrates Government’s commitment to promote livestock production in the State by controlling animals trans-boundary diseases through vaccination campaign.
“Diseases such as Bovine Pleuro-Pneuminia (CBPP) and Pestes Des Petits Ruminant (PPR) are of great concern as they cause great economic lost to our farmers due to high mortality and therefore constitute a threat to the economy of our State”.
He said his administration’s effort is therefore geared towards the eradication of the trans-boundary animal diseases through massive vaccination campaign similar to the efforts made against rinder pest.
“I understand that the annual vaccination campaign has not been conducted previously but with the coming of this administration we developed processes that will ensure the continuation of the exercise in order to prevent setbacks in our collective effort to eradicate these diseases”.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya assured the people of the State of his administration’s commitment to sustaining the annual vaccination campaign in order to improve livestock production in the State.
“Farmers and herders need one another for the development of our Agricultural sector as such we should learn to tolerate one another so that peace will reign in our state”
He used the occasion to commend the Federal Government’s Livestock Transformation Plan towards boosting livestock production and controlling animal diseases across the country, calling on states to join hands in the battle as disease control is a collective battle.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya said such synergy will go a long way in enhancing livestock production in the State, thereby improving the socio-economic status of rural dwellers who are predominantly farmers.
He said to reduce the impact of these diseases on the rural pastoralists, women and children who own small ruminants as a form of asset to be used in times of needs, his administration has procured enough vaccines and other veterinary equipment for a holistic statewide vaccination exercise.
“My desire is to transform the livestock sub-sector in the State with the adoption of the National Livestock Transformation Plan through the establishment of a model at the Wawa Zange grazing reserve”.
He said efforts are underway to create employment opportunities and to ensure food security reduce poverty among teeming youths through the agricultural value chain, saying this will also go a long way to address the perennial conflict between livestock and crop farmers.
The Governor appealed to stakeholders to join hands with the State Government to ensure the success of the exercise, calling on Local Government councils, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, livestock owners and members of the General public to give veterinary personnel the needed support and cooperation in order to ensure the success of the exercise.
“It is my sincere hope that the exercise will galvanize livestock farmers to re-dedicate themselves to the development of the livestock sub-sector thereby improving livestock production in the State and the nation at large”.
Earlier in his address, the State Commissioner of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Muhammad Magaji said this is the first time since the creation of the State that a statewide annual vaccination of animals for two consecutive years running.
He said over one million livestock are projected to be vaccinated against the contagious Bovin Pleuro-Pneuminia CBPP in cattle and Pestes Des Petits Ruminant PPR in sheep and goats across the State.
He applauded Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for providing all the consumables needed for a hitch free vaccination campaign and appealed to the Governor to give the nod for the Employment of more veterinary Doctors in the State.
The Director, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development Dr. Musa Mohammed said the vaccination campaign is necessary for the survival and over all development of the livestock sub-sector in the State and by extension the country as a whole.
The State Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association MACBAN Modibbo Yahaya said since last year’s vaccination exercise, the Association has not reported any case of disease outbreak among its members.
He thanked Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his proactiveness and appealed to his compatriots to report any strange face or movement to the nearest security outlet for the prevention of any possible break down of law and order.
The Secretary to the Gombe State Government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi says the protection of lives and property of the citizens of the State remains a key priority of the Inuwa Yahaya led administration.
Professor Njodi stated this when he received the newly posted Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDS), Mr. Samson Wabulari who was in his office Monday on a familiarization visit.
The SSG said eventhough Gombe State is reletively peaceful the recent security breach pose a great security challenge noting that with the support of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps and other sister security agencies the situation has been brought under control.
Njodi appreciated the Command and other sister security agencies for their role during the recent crisis in Billiri urging them to maintain the tempo.
The SSG assured the new Commandant of the State Government readiness to work closely with security Agencies to secure the lives and property of the citezenry.
