GOVERNOR INUWA GIVES OUT GOMBE INEC BOSS DAUGHTER IN MARRIAGE

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has given out in marriage Sa’adatu Umar Ibrahim the Daughter of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Gombe State hand in marriage to Mohammed Mamood Jada.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Gombe State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi at the wedding Fatihah that took place at Jalingo, Taraba State, Governor Yahaya urged the couple to imbibe the spirit of Patience, tolerance and love at all times, for their marriage to be Successful.

He said the relationship between Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and that of Wazirin Muri is a long standing one, and that is why, the Governor felt the wedding can not be contracted without him.

“As you can see, when I came in here, the father who is suppose to have been the one to give out the Daughter in marriage had to allow His Excellency through me to take that role as the father. That is to tell you the level of the relationship”.He said.

The wedding Fatihah was contracted after the Payment of fifety thousand naira dowry by the Groom’s parents.

The resident Electoral Commissioner for Gombe State and father of the bride, Alhaji Umar Ibrahim thanked Governor Mohammadu Inuwa Yahaya and other well wishers who came to rejoice with them at their joyous moment.


On the SSG’s entourage are; the commissioner for solid minerals development, Alhaji Shehu Ibrahim Madugu, Special adviser to the Governor on community relations and ethical orientation, Auwal Abdullahi among others.

Gombe Governor congratulates Dr. Ardo Kumo on his appointment as Federal Perm-Sec.

The Governor of Gombe state, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has received with excitement, the appointment of Dr. Babayo Ardo Kumo as a Federal Permanent Secretary representing Gombe State.

In a congratulatory message, Governor Yahaya described Dr. Babayo Kumo as a seasoned administrator and experienced technocrat who is a shining example for the younger generation.

“I am highly delighted and excited with the appointment of our illustrious son, Dr. Babayo Ardo Kumo by President Muhammadu Buhari as a Federal Permanent Secretary.

“No doubt Dr. Babayo’s appointment is a well deserved one, considering the wealth of experience and knowledge he garnered over the years both at the Gombe state civil service where he rose through the ranks to reach the position of Permanent Secretary and at the federal level where until this appointment, he served as Director, states and local governments in the presidency”.

“It is my sincere belief that he will bring to bear his track records of hard work, diligence and beaureacratic prowess while discharging the responsibilities of his new office”.

Governor Yahaya also tasked the new appointee to continue to bring honour to Gombe state and keep on with the remarkable trajectory he is known for, assuring him of the support and solidarity of the Government and good people of Gombe state.

Covid -19: Gombe receives donation from Chinese firm.

Gombe state Task force on covid -19 has received additional donation of operational items from a Chinese firm, Ganan construction Company.

Presenting the items to the Chairman of the Task force in Gombe, the Managing Director of the company, Mr. Xu Kan said the firm offered the donated items to contribute its quota in complementing the Gombe state government’s efforts in containing the covid-19 pandemic.

Mr. Xu believes this hard times of fighting the dreaded virus requires collective effort by both government and corporate bodies.

Items donated by the Chinese firm include 30,000 pieces of facemask, 4,800 pieces of methanol sanitizers and 40 containers of sprayers for environmental sanitation.

In his response, the Chairman, state Task force on covid -19, Professor Idris Mohammed thanked the Chinese construction giant for the gesture, assuring of transparent and judicious utilisation of the items donated.

The Task force Chairman used the occasion to urge the people of the state to continue to observe strictly the preventive measures against covid-19 and comply with all the guidelines and medial expert’s advice, especially now that the country has entered into the community transmission phase.

GOMBE SSG PAYS GLOWING TRIBUTE TO RETIRING PERMANENT SECRETARY.

The Secretary to the Gombe State Government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi has paid tribute to the Permanent Secretary Government House Yakubu Bajoga who retires after 35 years of service.

In a send forth ceremony organised by the office of the SSG for the retiring Permanent Secretary, Professor Njodi described Yakubu Bajoga as fine administrator who is committed to the realization of set goals.

” I have seen in him hard work, commitment, and sacrifice. Yakubu Bajoga is a trustworthy gentleman and God fearing. He is an individual loaded with vast experience. A goal getter and a performer worthy of emulation”. Njodi stated.

While wishing the retiring Permanent Secretary more fruitful years in his retirement life, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi said he will continue to consult with Yakubu Bajoga for his wealth of experience.

He called on young civil servants in the State to emulate Yakubu Bajoga who has served the State in different capacities without blemish.

The Director Administration and Finance Government House Abubakar Saidu Haruna and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity Jack Tasha are both colleagues of the retiring Permanent Secretary. They describe him as a administrator per excellence.

They wish him success in his retirement life and said the State civil service will miss him greatly.

The retiring Permanent Secretary Government House Yakubu Bajoga thanked the Secretary to the Gombe State Government for organising the send forth ceremony which he describes as a show of love and togetherness.

He thanked those he had worked with in his 35 years of service to the State describing the experiences gathered over time as rewarding.

During his course of service to the State, Yakubu Bajoga has worked in different capacities including Acting Head of Civil Service.

Gombe Governor flags-off sales, distribution of fertilizer for 2020 farming season.

… Pegs price at 5 thousand Naira per bag

In a bid to boost agricultural production in the state, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has flagged- off sales and distribution of fertilizer for the year 2020 farming season.

While performing the ceremony in Gombe, Governor Yahaya said timely distrbution of affordable fertilizer to farmers each cropping season is one of his campaign promises as such his administration remains committed to keeping faith with its resolve to boost agricultural activities in the state.

He said his administration has procured 20,000 metric tons of assorted fertilizer for sales and distribution to the door steps of real farmers at the hinterland in good time despite the challenges posed by the covid-19 pandemic.

The Governor further revealed at the flagging-off ceremony that the large quantity of the commodity has already been supplied directly to the Agricultural storage facilities across the eleven (11) local government areas of the state for onward sales and distribution.

The Governor directed that the NPK fertilizer be sold at the rate of N5000 per bag adding that price of other brands like Urea will be determined when security related issues are sorted out with the office of the National Security Adviser.

“Gombe State has procured 20,000 metric tons of assorted fertilizers for sale to our farmers. This is a clear testimony of our commitment to improve agricultural production in the state”

“Building on our previous experience, the bulk of it has been supplied directly to the Local Governments for onward sale and distribution through the polling units so as to reach the grassroots.

” Our objective is to ensure that our rural farmers are supplied all the basic farm inputs at their doorsteps without necessarily going through bureaucratic or economic red-tapism associated with the past”.

He explained that the government has set up a fertilizer monitoring committee with other relevant security agencies to monitor and track diversion of the commodity.

While calling for harmonious relationship among farmers and herders against encroaching into grazing reserves and cattle routes, the Governor said the state is keying into the National Livestock Transformation Programme, with Wawa-Zange grazing reserve as pilot project as well as tapping into the great irrigation potentials of the state’s three major dams of Dadinkowa, Cham and Balanga in order to promote large scale irrigation activities.

Earlier in his remark, the state Commissioner for Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Hon. Mohammed Magaji said in line with the Governor’s directive, the ministry has made adequate arrangements so that the fertilizer reaches the farming populace at the grassroot.

Hon. Magaji said the ministry under one year of the present administration has achieved a remarkable feat in the Agric sector such as reactivation of annual animal vaccination of cattle, sheep and goat after years of neglect.

Other achievements he listed, include procurement of 30 trucks of NPK fertilizer, agro chemicals and knapsack sprayers which were distributed to 6000 dry season farmers at a subsidized rate across the state among other strides.

The Commissioner urged the government to deploy more Agricultural professionals to the ministry as many available ones are due for retirement next year.

Speaking at the event, the Director, Federal ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr Musa Mohammed Inuwa said the federal government through its GREEN IMPERATIVE PROGARAMME has secured a loan worth one billion from the Brazillian government to increase the level of mechanization in the farming operations.

He added that investment in Agriculture has also led to improvement in national security through job creation along food value chains as over 70% of informal sector jobs created in the economy were related to rural agriculture and federal government will be most willing to partner with Gombe state to take Nigeria to the next level in the Agriculture and livestock production.

The Director commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya for ensuring early sales of fertilizer in the state, a gesture he noted will help in boosting food production and economic activities in the state.

GIVE PRINCIPAL OFFICERS THE NEEDED SUPPORT FOR ACCADEMIC EXCELLENCE. NJODI TELLS KALTUNGO COMMUNITY.

The Secretary to the Gombe State Government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi (Madakim Kaltungo) has called on the people of Kaltungo to accord the newly appointed principal officers of the Federal Polytechnic Kaltungo the much needed support for the institution to attain academic excellence.

Prof. Njodi stated this while presenting principal officers of the newly established Federal Polytechnic to the Mai Kaltungo Engr Sale Mohammadu at his Palace.

The SSG said, for the Polytechnic to make any meaningful progress both in terms of academic and human capital development the people of Kaltungo must divorce any iorta of sentiment and embrace who ever that is posted to oversee the affairs of the school.

Njodi paid glowing tribute to President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the establishment of the institution and called on the pioneer principal officers to work in consonance with the host community for mutual benefit and understanding.

Receiving the pioneer principal officers of the institution, the Mai Kaltungo Engr Sale Mohammadu assured of his Chiefdom’s readiness to partner with the Polytechnic for the overall benefit of his people, the State and the nation at large.

He thanked Governor Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya for wasting no time in aportioning the newly constructed Kaltungo model School as temporary sites for the take off of the Polytechnic.

The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Kaltungo Dr. Mohammed Suleiman Lame appreciated the people of Kaltungo for the warm reception extended to him and his team.

Lame promised to build a Polytechnic where its graduates can stand shoulder to shoulder with their counterparts across the country and beyond.

While calling for support from the host community, the pioneer Rector assured the people of Kaltungo that their interest in the areas of job and admission placement will be treated with equity, fairness and Justice.

Presenting the keys of the temporary site to the Rector of the Kaltungo Polytechnic, the Gombe State Commissioner of Education Dr. Habu Dahiru said Governor Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya places premium on education and therefore charge the pioneer principal officers to key into the Governor’s policy of repositioning the sector for better and effective service Delivery.

Gombe Governor receives principal officers of Federal polytechnic Kaltungo.

…Pledges support, synergy for smooth take off of institution

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has urged the principal officers of the newly established Federal Polytechnic Kaltungo in Gombe state to put in their wealth of experience into practice while discharging their new responsibilities.

Governor Yahaya made the call while receiving the principal officers of the polytecnic led by its rector, Dr. Muhammad Suleiman Lame who paid him a courtesy call at a council chamber.

He said Gombe state government is committed to partnering with the polytechnic with a view to ensuring smooth take off and running of the federal institution.

While thanking the federal government for finding Gombe state suitable, the governor said establishing the federal polytechnic in Gombe will go along way in promoting technical education among the youths in the state, northeast sub region and the nation as a whole.

He said aside providing temporary site for the polytechnic’s take off at Kaltungo model secondary school, his government has already allocated 100 hectares of land where permanent site will be sited.

The Governor further assured the polytechnic’s management team of Government’s support at all times.

He said his cabinet is composed of experienced academics, some of whom are from Kaltungo, citing as examples, the Secretary to the state Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi who was the Vice Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, Commissioner of higher education, Meshack Lauco who worked with federal polytechnic Kauran Namoda in Zamfara state. He said the new management can count on the experience of these distinguished academics and his support as they pilot the affairs of the institution.

In his remarks, Dr Muhammed Suleiman Lame, said the principal officers of the polytechnic were at the Government House to formally introduce themselves to the Governor and to seek for government’s support and assistance towards the smooth take off of the federal polytechnic.

While appreciating the key role Gombe state government played in the buildup to the establishment and the locatiom of the institution, the rector said his administration will ensure synergy with the government and will keep it up to speed with its progress at all levels.

Dr. Lame solicited for the assistance of the state government in the provision of temporary accommodation for the principal officers and utility vehicles.

Earlier in his remarks, Bauchi state commissioner for education, Dr. Aliyu Tilde who led a team from Bauchi on a solidarity with the rector said establishing the federal polytechnic in Gombe state is a move in the right direction.

He assured Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya that Dr. Lame will accord him all the desired support for smooth running of the institution.

Dr. Tilde informed Governor Yahaya that Dr. Lame had performed greatly through execution of rapid developmental projects than his predecessors when he was the rector at the Abubakar Tatari Ali polytechnic, Bauchi and is resolute to sustain a similar tempo here in Gombe.

Also speaking, the Sarkin Yakin Bauchi, Aliyu Yakubu Lame who presented the new rector to the Governor on behalf of the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, guaranteed Gombe state government of their son’s determination for a harmonious working relationship for the successful operation of the infant instituition.

Highlight of the visit was the formal presentation of the title documents of the lands allocated to the polytechnic by Governor Inuwa Yahaya to the rector, Dr. Suleiman Lame.

Gombe Governor commissions projects to mark democracy day.

As part of activities to mark the 2020 democracy day, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe state has commisioned some projects he executed within his first year in office.

Although the activities were devoid of the usual pomp, pageantry and large gatherings due to the covid-19 pandemic, people could not hide their appreciation to the Governor for touching their lives in many ways within his first year of stewardship.

First on the list of the projects was the expanded Specialist Hospital Gombe, where the newly constructed accident and emergency and general outpatient buildings were unveiled.

Performing the ceremony, Governor Yahya lauded the professor El-nafaty led state task force on health for supporting him in upgrading the edifice to its present status.

The Governor further said the task force had gone round healthcare facilities across the state and made recommendations on necessary measures required in each facility with a view to improving them and by extension, the well being of the people.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya was later conducted round the various units of the new buildings by the chairman state task force on health.

Sub units inspected in the new structures included the x-ray room, pharmacy, laboratory, scanning and theatre rooms among others.

Governor Yahaya also commissioned brand new ford hilux vehicles allocated to the primary health care centres across the eleven Local Government Areas of the state.

He said the vehicles were meant to conduct outreaches, supervisions on routine immunization as well as boost the rapid response team’s test detection on covid -19 in the local government areas.

Supported by the Executive Secretary, state primary healthcare development agency SPHCDA, Dr Abdurrahman Shuaibu, the Governor said within its first year, his administration, has kept to its pledge of establishing a functional primary healthcare facility in 90 out of the 114 wards of the state so far and efforts are on to reach the remaining wards.

He further said aside revitalizing PHCs, secondary and tertiary healthcare centres will also have a similar treat in few months coming.

The Governor also commissioned the completed and furnished 24 housing units for resident doctors in the specialist hospital after about 20 years of abandonment.

Another project commissioned by Governor Yahaya was the Jekadafari primary healthcare centre.

The construction of the healthcare facility began at a community level with personal support from Governor Inuwa Yahaya before he became the state chief executive and later suppprted by his administration for completion in January 2020.

The facility he said has so far impacted on the lives of Jekadafari residents where since its establishment, 7 months ago, about 99 deliveries were received with 96 children immunized and about 1,600 patients treated.

These achievements, the Governor said are worth celebrating, adding that the democracy day of year 2020 will remain memorable to the residents of the area.

The Governor also commissioned one of the completed township roads in the metropolis along Makeran farfaru, unguwar sarkin fawa new market road in Gombe.

He said despite the lean resources, his administration will continue to keep to its promise of improving the lives of the people in all facets of human endeavours.

The Governor explained that apart from the road he commissioned, there are several others already completed by his administration within and outside Gombe citing Billiri Dogon ruwa, Gona, Kalshingi roads as examples.

The Governor was also at Kwami where he commissioned the Education Resource Centre.

He was was received by the officials of the ministry of education led by the Commissioner, Dr. Habu Dahiru, SUBEB Chairman and members of the traditional institution represented by the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III.

He stressed the need to give all the desired priority to education sector with a view to securing a brighter future for the sons and daughters of the state.

Governor Yahaya said his administration saw the need to restructure and upgrade the hitherto dilapidated and abandoned structure built by the Federal Government as almajiri school into something that will impact meaningfully in the lives of the people.

Underscoring the importance of teachers in attaining quality education, Governor Yahaya noted that “a sound teacher makes a good student that is why the institution is brought on board to ensure the capacity of our teachers are routinely improved”.

He said salvaging education from its previous status in the state is one of his key priorities and will not relent in achieving that.

Commissioner for Education, Dr. Habu Dahiru said the center is equipped with ICT pool, conference hall, planning unit, recreational and other modern operational facilities that will improve teaching and learning.

…says democracy has brought sustainable development to Gombe state

Gombe state Governor Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has felicitated with the people of the state and Nigerians in general as the country marks the 2020 democracy day today.

In a goodwill message, Governor Yahaya called on the people of the state to rededicate themselves to nation building and remain united as well as frontally confront the challenges facing the state and nation with prayers and total commitment.

The Governor noted that the 21 years of uninterrupted democratic governance in Nigeria has ushered in sustainable development in Gombe State, which has improved the lives of the people.

He paid glowing tributes to both the past and present leaders of Gombe State, noting that their efforts ensured that the state remains one indivisible entity.

“For us in Gombe State, there is no denying the fact that democracy has ushered in a period of sustainable development for our dear State. Three successive civilian administrations have come and gone, paving the way for our own administration. Let me use this opportunity to pay tribute to our past and present leaders, who have contributed in deepening our democratic experience and strengthening our political culture.

“I therefore call on us to rededicate ourselves to nation building, remain united and frontally confront our problems with total commitment and prayers. We must always remember that the task of nation-building is a collective responsibility,” the governor said.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya also urged the citizenry to appreciate the state’s diversity through understanding and recognizing the interests of various ethnic and religious groups as well as promoting brotherhood and respect for one another.

He assured the people of Gombe State of his administration’s commitment to improving their well-being through the provision of socio-economic infrastructure, ensuring peace and security, law and justice as well as providing equal opportunities for all.

“To this end, we shall continue to engage all stakeholders in order to give our people a sense of belonging. We will also remain focused to ensure the full actualization of our vision for the creation of Gombe State, which is to build a prosperous, peaceful and all-inclusive State for all its people. Our objective is to build a broad developmental consensus for our dear State, one that is built on a foundation of shared ownership and collective responsibility.”

“As a Government that rode to the power on tremendous public goodwill, the verdict is clear- that we have been able to touch positively on the lives of our people. From township and rural roads to water supply, from huge investment in education and health care to Agriculture and coupled with our track record of prudent financial management, civil service reform and Internal security, we have demonstrated that our administration is on track to deliver on our campaign promises”.

Speaking on the COVID-19 pandemic, Governor Yahaya said: “While there is no doubt that the pandemic disrupted governance, we are working hard to ensure proper management of the crisis.

“We have invested significant amount of resources in strengthening the capacity and responsiveness of our public health and emergency management system as well as developing people-oriented palliative initiatives that delivered relief assistance to the poor and vulnerable who are worse affected by the economic disruption brought about by Covid-19. Our palliatives efforts have so far covered over 67,000 households across our 11 LGAs, with many more to be covered.”

Governor Yahaya reiterated his administration’s resolve and commitment toward the protection of lives and property of Gombe people, calling on them to be security conscious and report any lawlessness capable of threatening the prevailing peace and tranquility in the state.
