Gombe SSG task ANAN on accountability, transparency in resource management.

The Secretary to the Gombe State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi has tasked of members of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) on loyalty, accountability, confidentiality and transparency in the management of public resources.

Professor Ibrahim Njodi who made the appeal when he received Officials and members of the state chapter of the Association in his office Friday,said as financial Managers of public expenditures it is imperative that they imbibe absolute professionalism in the discharge of their functions.

The SSG also reminded the body of Accountants to be mindful of protecting government financial dealings from unauthorized persons in line with their professional ethics.

While commending members of the Association for priotizing capacity development through the necessary courses and professional examinations, Professor Njodi advised them to also take advantage of technology to individually improve on their performance.

He further stressed that government on its part will continue to provide the enabling environment for them to contribute meaningfully to delivery of good governance in the State.

Speaking further Professor Njodi intimate them on government’s resolve to bluck leakages of scarce resources in it’s quest to provide basic amenities for the people hence the introduction of the Treasury Single Account TSA calling on the Association to support government in that direction.

The SSG used the occasion to congratulate the Association for producing credible members in state including the state Governor Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya who is managing the State finances excellently well and providing decided of democracy to the citizenry.

Earlier,in his submission the state chairman of the Association,Mr Wilson Yahaya had informed the SSG that the visit was to identify and align with the positive impact of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s developmental policies and programs.

Mr Wilson Yahaya also said the visit is an opportunity for the Association to restate it’s it loyalty and willingness to work with the state government in it’s desire to provide the people with dividends of democracy in a more transparent and prudent manner.

On his remark, former chairman of the Association,Abubakar Hassan disclosed that they have over two hundred members from both the public and private sectors in the state with majority from the state workforce.

Abubakar Hassan further explained that the state chapter have been active nationality which earned it the North East zonal professional Examination centre appealing to government for financial support to indigent members to register and write those exams.

The occasion had in attendance the Head of Civil Service, Bappayo Yahaya, Commissioners of Justice and Attorney General, Rural Development, Energy, Women and Social Development, and Special Duties, Special Advisers, Senior Special Advisers, Permanent Secretary SSG’s office and other top government functionaries.
