Gombe State Government Inaugurate 7 man committee on Schools establishment, Teachers rationalisation.

Determined to ensure that the Education sector is placed on the path of progressive development, the Gombe State Government has inaugurated a committee on Schools development and Teachers rationalisation in the State.

The committee is to among other areas of concern laid the foundation for the de-congestion of over- populated Schools and to ensure equitable posting of Teachers across schools within the State.

Inaugurating the Committee the Executive chairman Gombe State Universal Basic Education Board SUBEB Hon Babaji Babadidi said the committee becomes necessary in view of the disparity inherent in the number of teachers and students in Schools across the State particularly in Gombe Local Government Area.

He said the present administration of Governor Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya is desirous of bequeathing an educational system that can be compare to what obtains in advance nations of the world.

“You can for yourselves that in the last one year the administration of Governor Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya has done the unexpected in building the capacity of teachers and constructing hundreds of schools across the State”

The Gombe SUBEB chairman said the inauguration of the committee is part of measures put in place by the Gombe State Government through the Board to demystify the State of emergency earlier on declared by Governor Inuwa Yahaya on the Education sector.

He charged members of the committee to firm and decisive in the discharge of their assignment which is aimed at repositioning the Education sector for better effective and efficient service Delivery.

The chairman of the committee Dr. Abubakar Abdullahi Kumo assured of the committee’s readiness to deliver on its mandate adding that the inauguration could not have come at a better time when the State government is gaining grounds towards repositioning the Education sector.

Dr. Kumo who is the full time member two of the Gombe State Universal Basic Education Board SUBEB said thanked the Government State Government through the Board for giving them the opportunity to serve in the committee.

The committee has one week to complete its assignment.

Gombe Agency for Community and Social Development reels out 10 achievements.

..As project comes to a close.

Gombe State Agency for Community and Social Development says it has expended over 2.9 billion naira on Community Driven Initiatives CDI in the last ten years in the State.

The General Manager of the Agency Abubakar Ardo Kumo stated this while delivering account of stewardship to Community Project Management Committee CPMC drawn from communities who have so far benefited from the Agency’s intervention.

Ardo Kumo said the Agency deemed it necessary to invite signatories from Community Project Management Committee CPMC in communities that have so far benefited from the Agency’s intervention in order to intimate them on the overall performance of the social development organisation.

He said it was only normal for the Agency to display it accounting books for everyone to see its income and expenditures in the interest of transparency and accountability adding that the Agency which is largely sponsored by the World Bank is build on the principles of accountable and responsive leadership.

Ardo Kumo said in the last 10 year the Agency has constructed numerous classrooms and examination halls, health care centres, VIP toilets, electrification of communities across the State and construction of orphanages among other projects that have direct bearing on the needs of the people.

He commended Governor Mohammadu Inuwa Yahaya for accelerating the activities of the Agency through prompt payment of counterpart funding saying the Governor has equally Commissioned some projects of the Agency, the first of its kind in the history of the Agency.

He said communities across the State have shown greater interest in the activities of the Agency giving the number of applications the Agency has received requesting for intervention.

The General Manager of the Gombe State Agency for Community and Social Development said following the expiration of the current project, Governor Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya has made a case for the State to be included in next phase of the project which will now be known as Nigeria Covid-19 Action Response and Economic Stimulus.

On their part the Managers Administration and Finance Haruna Imam as well as that of operations Labilwa Ismaila charge communities that have so far benefited from the Agency’s intervention to take full ownership of projects at their domain so as to guarantee its its longevity.

They said community ownership of project have been proven to the best way to sustain intervention for a very long time.

Some members of the Community Project Management Committee said the Gombe State Agency for Community and Social Development has displayed a rare attitude to project Management and execution.

While recalling with nostalgia the ease at which the Agency intervene in their various communities through the execution of community driven projects, the members of the Community project Management committee CPMC praise the Gombe State Government for making a case for the State to be included in the new project code named Nigeria Covid-19 Action Response and Economic Stimulus CARES.

Gombe SSG bags traditional title of Sarkin Rafin Pindiga.

The Emir of Pindiga Emirate in Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State, Alhaji Muhammad Seyoji Ahmad has appointed the secretary to the Gombe state government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi as Sarkin Rafin Pindiga.

In a letter titled award of traditional title of Sarkin Rafin Pindiga, the content says the honour is in recognitions of the SSG’s good leadership qualities, and respect for Traditional institution especially that of Pindiga.

The letter prayed God to give the SSG the strength to continue to promote peace, Harmony as well as social development of Pindiga Emirate, Gombe State and our dear nation Nigeria in general.

The Galadiman Pindiga Idris Mohammed who presented the appointment letter to the SSG on behalf of the Emirate council, said the honour is to appreciate the SSG for his contributions towards the development of Pindiga Emirate and his selfless service to the people.

While commending the Emir of Pindinga Alhaji Muhammad Seyoji Ahmad for the honour, the Secretary to the Gombe State Government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi assured of his unwavering support to the Emirate.

Professor Njodi said he will continue to deployed his energy to the growth and development of Pindiga Emirate and the State as a whole.

Also speaking, the Parmanent Secretary office of the SSG, Muhammed Umar said the traditional title of Sarkin Rafin Pindiga bestowed on the SSG is a great honour to the entire staff in the SSG’s office.

In another development the SSG was at the resident of an APC Chieftain Alhaji Abubakar Mua’zu Hassan Yeriman Kashere to commiserate with him over the demise of his mother Hajiya Aishetu.

Professor Njodi who describe the death of Hajiya Aishetu as a great loss called on the grieving family to take solace in the Almighty Allah.

Gombe Governor commiserates with political associate and APC chieftain, Abubakar Mu’azu over mother’s death.

Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has commiserated with his political associate and All Progressives Congress, APC chieftain, Alhaji Abubakar Muazu Hassan over the demise of his Mother, Hajiya Aishatu Muazu who died today in Gombe at the age of 78.

In a condolence message, Governor Inuwa Yahaya extolled the virtues of the late Hajiya Aishatu, describing her as an upright mother and family pillar, who lived an exemplary life characterised by devotion to Allah and service to humanity.

He regretted that although Hajiya Aishatu died at a time her elderly and motherly counsel and wisdom were needed by her children and grand children, “We must take solace in the fact that she left behind a lasting legacy through her children who are now shining examples in the society”.

The Gombe Governor consoled Alhaji Abubakar Muazu and the entire members of the Muazu Hassan family to keep alive the legacies of good character their late mother left behind.

Governor Yahaya extended the condolences of the government and people of Gombe State over the sad event and prayed Almighty Allah to grant the deceased Aljannat Firdaus and give the family the fortitude to bear the great loss.

The funeral prayer for the Late Hajiya Aishatu, according to family sources, holds today, Saturday 29th August, 2020 by 1pm at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe.

Gombe partners NDE on Job Creation, Skills Acquisition, Entrepreneurship.

Gombe State Government is to partner with the National Directorate of Employment, NDE in the area of job creation, skills acquisition and entrepreneurial skills development.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya at a meeting with the Director-General of the NDE, Dr. Nasiru Ladan Mohammed Argungu at the Headquarters of the agency in Abuja, said his administration is poised to ensuring inclusive and sustainable economic growth, especially in the post- covid area.

According to the Governor, Gombe will key into various initiatives and programmes of the NDE to provide job opportunities, promote direct financial inclusion and self actualization as well as to curb poverty and unemployment among the youths and women of the state.

Describing youths as the
backbone and future of the society, Governor Yahaya asserted that his administration will spare no effort in providing opportunities for them to acquire skills for sustainable livelihood.

He said his administration has already made provision in the reviewed 2020 budget to stimulate the economy and mitigate the impact of the covid-19 pandemic, especially on small holder business men and women.

Earlier, the NDE Director-General said the directorate is interested in dealing with Chief Executives who have the interest of the people at heart.

“Am happy to tell you that from the little discussions I had with the Governor of Gombe State, I realized that this is one man who has the interest of his people at heart. I congratulate the people of Gombe state for having such a humble, exemplary and passionate leader who put the interest and welfare of his people first “.

Dr. Argungu said as far the issue of training and employment is concerned, his directorate has the capacity to deliver on its mandate.

He said the mandate given to the directorate by government is to create and provide jobs through entrepreneurship skills development.

He expressed appreciation to Inuwa Yahaya for the visit, saying he was the first state Governor to personally visit him at the NDE Headquarters to seek partnership.

He thereafter presented to the Gombe State Governor with one thousand one hundred trainee enrollment forms to be distributed across the 11 LGAs for training on various trades and another one thousand one hundred for the directorate’s Micro Economic Enhancement Scheme in which funds will be given to small scale business men and women to expand their businesses.

The Director-General assured the Governor that as soon as the forms are completed and returned to the headquarters of the NDE, the directorate will release funds to the beneficiaries through its Gombe state office.

GOMBE GOVERNOR CONGRATULATES CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF OVER DAUGHTER’S WEDDING.

Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has congratulated the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Yusuf Burutai for giving out his daughter’s hand in marriage.

The wedding fatiha of Khadija Tukur Buratai and Zannah Mohammed Sani which took place in Biu, Borno State attracted dignitaries from across the country.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya who was represented at the ceremony by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi urged the couple to imbibe the spirit of Patience, tolerance and love at all times, for their marriage to be successful.

The wedding Fatihah was contracted by the Chief Imam of Biu Central Mosque, Malam Nura Umar Isah after the Payment of five hundred thousand naira dowry by the groom’s parents.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Burutai thanked Governor Inuwa Yahaya and other well wishers for coming to share in their joyous moment.

On the SSG’s entourage were; the commissioner for Internal Security, Dauda Batari Zambuk, Special Adviser on Security,Colonel Sani Dapsiya (rtd), Special Adviser on Development Control, Enforcement and Compliance, Group Captain Peter Bilal and his counterpart on Community Relations and Ethical Orientation, Alhaji Auwal Abdullahi.

President Mohammadu Buhari was represented by the Minister of Defence General Bashir Magashi rtd.

Also in attendance is Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, Members of National Assembly, Serving Military Officers and other well wishers.

Gombe Government distributes relief materials to flood victims in Billiri LGA.

In continuation of its outreach to communities ravaged by natural disaster, the Government of Gombe State has distributed relief materials to households affected by food in Tal and Tanglang districts of Billiri Local Government Area.

The Gombe State Commissioner of Special Duties, Barr. Mela Audu Nunghe who presented the materials on behalf of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya told the paramount ruler of Tangale Chiefdom that the relief items were provided to cushion the hardship faced by victims of the disaster.

The Commissioner said the compassionate disposition of Governor Inuwa Yahaya towards the people is such that no effort will be spared in meeting their pressing needs, especially those in distress like victims of natural disasters.

Barrister Nunghe said the present administration is always ready to come to the aid of any community in need.

He said the relief materials are meant to be distributed only to victims of the flood disaster, saying a severe sanction awaits anyone who diverts the items.

In his remarks, the Commissioner of Works and Transport, Engineer Abubakar Bappah said the present administration is favourably disposed to meeting the yearnings and aspirations of its people, recalling that when the bridge linking Billiri and Laushidaji collapsed due to heavy downpour, the Governor instructed his ministry to reconstruct it without any delay, adding that the bridge has since been fixed and opened for public use.

Engr. Bappah called on the people of Tangale Chiefdom not to relent in their support for Governor Inuwa Yahaya, disclosing plans by the administration to construct more roads in the Local Government Area.

Members representing Billiri east and west in the Gombe State House of Assembly, Hon. Rambi Ayala and Hon. Tulfukut Kardi praised the steadfastness of Governor Inuwa Yahaya in responding to the needs of the people.

They said some of the Governor’s interventions on the needs of communities in distress always come before a motion of public importance are even raised on the floor of the House.

The Mai Tangle, Dr. Abdul Buba Maisheru ll said relief materials will go a long way to cushion the hardship faced by victims of flood disaster in Ayaba and Poyali villages of Billiri Local government Area.

He thanked Governor Inuwa Yahaya for always showing up each time it matters, assuring the representative of the Governor that the materials will be delivered to the affected persons.

At Tal and Tanglang districts where the victims had gathered to receive the relief materials, the Special Duties Commissioner handed over 270 bundles of zinc, 190 one hundred kg bags of maize, 400 bags of cement and 30 jericans of palm oil to be distributed to the flood victims in the communities.

Gombe Moves To Close Manpower Gap in Health Sector.

…Inaugurates committee on Women for Health Foundation Programme

Gombe State Government has inaugurated a 7-man committee to advance and encourage the course of women participation in medical training and delivery so as to breach manpower gap inherent in the health sector.

The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi while inaugurating the committee said the present administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya is determined to reposition the health sector for effective service delivery.

He said part of the policy thrust of the Inuwa Yahaya led government is to construct at least one functional Primary Health Care Centre in each of the 114 wards of the State to compliment existing general hospitals at the Local Government levels and the State specialist hospital which was recently revamped and upgraded.

“It is one thing to build structures in the name of health facility but is another to equip them with personnel and materials and I can tell you that this is what the Governor is doing at the moment”, the SSG stressed.

He said the manpower gap in the health sector is worrisome, expressing the hope that the inauguration of the committee on Women for Health Foundation Year Programme will go a long way to fill in the gaps in both urban and rural communities of the State.

“I am highly delighted with the formation of this committee. I therefore challenge your to expand your horizon as you work to deliver on your mandate”

Earlier speaking, the Provost Gombe State School of Nursing and Midwifery, Dr. Pauline Doka said the Women for Health Foundation Year Programme is an innovative approach aimed at addressing the shortage of frontline health workers that will service Primary Health Care Centres in northern Nigeria.

The chairman of the committee on Women for Health Foundation Year Programme, Alhaji Yaya Hamari said the committee will deploy its time and intellectual resources to encourage women participation in medical training and services.

Gombe Governor lauds president Buhari on palliatives.

…as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs delivers FG’s relief materials for covid-19, flood

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for providing relief materials and palliatives to the people of Gombe state to mitigate the impact of the coronavirus pandemic and other natural disasters on them.

The Governor gave the commendation while receiving the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Faruoq
who was in the state to deliver food items to the Government for onward distribution to the less privileged members of the society.

Governor Yahaya used the occasion to commend the minister over her ministry’s consistent support to Gombe state.

He praised President Buhari for appointing Sadiya Farouq as Humanitarian Affairs minister, saying such a ministry which deals with human needs can only be better managed by a woman.

Governor Yahaya told the minister that by the geographical location of Gombe, which lies in a valley, the State capital is always susceptible to erosion and desertification which are largely caused by poor environmental management.

He said the state will continue to seek for the Ministry’s support in view of its limited resources in the midst of so many competitive demands.

Governor Yahaya who expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for the palliatives, said the people of the State will remain grateful to President Muhammadu Buhari for the intervention in the face of the covid-19 pandemic.

He said the centrality and peaceful nature of the State always make it a safe haven for individuals fleeing conflict from neighbouring states, explaining that inspite of limited resources the State has been assisting IDPs and victims of communal clashes from other states.

The Governor assured of judicious distribution of the items donated.

Earlier speaking, the minister said the Minister said she was in the state on behalf of the President to present assorted grains from the National Food Reserve approved as palliatives for distribution to the vulnerable persons affected by the effects of the covid-19 pandemic.

She also said the Federal Government was worried by the recent flood disaster in the State which led to the loss of lives and property.

Hajiya Sadiya Farouq said preliminary report on the incident indicated the need for relief intervention which has since been provided through the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA.

She advised the Gombe State Government to be weary of warnings associated to flood and to put in place preventive measures in case of any eventuality.

While at the Gombe Central Warehouse where the Minister handed over the relief materials, she listed the items to include assorted grains comprising of 23 trailer load of maize, two trailer load of millet and 24 trailer load of sorgum among others.

Gombe Governor pays tribute to Zulum at 51.

Gombe state governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has felicitated with his Borno state counterpart, and Chairman of North East Governors Forum, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum as he marks his 51st birthday today.

In a goodwill message, Governor Yahaya commended the unwavering commitment of Professor Zulum in addressing the challenges of governance in the insurgency ravaged state of Borno and in carrying out people oriented projects and programmes, which endeared him to the masses, not only in his state but across the country.

He lauded the Borno governor for using his good office to impact positively on the lives of many as well as for his strives to restore peace in Borno state and by extension, the North East sub-region.

“Your courage and excellent performance as well as the zeal and passion for peace and good governance have indeed stood you out.

“I join the good people of Borno state and indeed your well wishers in celebrating your attainment of 51 years, which is a great milestone in life worth celebrating.”

The Gombe governor prayed Almighty Allah to continue to bless Governor Zulum with good health, wisdom and long life to keep serving the state and humanity.
